Montpelier Recreation Center and Library slated to open this summer

Big things are happening at Montpelier Recreation Center and Library!

We're thrilled to share a construction update on our new state-of-the-art 20,000-square-foot facility. The center features a full-size gymnasium, classrooms and a brand-new library with conference spaces and study rooms. Plus, new walkways and a relocated ballfield are in the works.

We can't wait to share the space with you this summer!

Hanover to honor fallen heroes at annual Memorial Day Ceremony

Hanover County Parks and Recreation is holding its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m.

Join us at the Hanover Veterans Memorial at Hanover Wayside Park to honor our fallen heroes.

Hanover County government offices, courts and solid waste convenience centers will be closed on Memorial Day.

Residents gather for active aging event

Community Resources' Finding Value in Your Prime was a hit!

Over 100 seniors came together for a day filled with resources, fun and community. They connected with several agencies and learned about home health care, hospice and insurance services. There were engaging presentations on active lifestyles and positive aging, plus lively activities and door prizes.

Volunteer firefighter celebrates 50 years of service to Hanover

Join us in honoring Larry Leber, a dedicated volunteer firefighter with Hanover County Fire-EMS for an incredible 50 years.

Larry has been a vital part of Black Creek Volunteer Fire Department, inspiring not only his community but his own family. Both of his children followed in his footsteps as firefighters, with Larry and his daughter often responding to calls side by side.

Thank you, Larry, for your unwavering commitment and service. Here's to many more years of keeping our community safe.

Team Hanover works to help adults recovering from substance abuse

Hanover County's Adult Recovery Court is set to begin July 1. This initiative aims to reduce substance abuse and drug-related criminal activity through the combined efforts of our community and justice system.

A number of departments participated in training to better serve residents involved in this program—including County Administration, Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Circuit Court, Community Services Board, Community Corrections and our Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. 

Together, we are making Hanover a safer and healthier place for all.

Social Services recognizes Adult Abuse Prevention Month

May is Adult Abuse Prevention Month and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Department of Social Services for their unwavering dedication to protecting our vulnerable adults.
