Smoke testing happening in Ashland

Contractors are performing smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system at Hanover Industrial Air Park.

What you should know:

  • The smoke used is non-toxic, clean and harmless to humans and animals.
  • Smoke may be visible from roof vents, manholes, storm inlets or holes in the ground.
  • No fire hazard is posed by the smoke.

This is part of our ongoing sanitary sewer rehabilitation project. Work is expected to be complete by Friday, June 28.

Reunited and it feels so good

On May 27, Hanover County Animal Control and Shelter received a call from Shawn Fretwell from Oregon that his Pitbull, Rosy, had jumped out of his vehicle at a truck stop in Ashland. Despite his efforts to find Rosy, Shawn had to get to his next stop to make his delivery on time — but never gave up hope that he would see his furry friend again.

Our amazing community and hardworking officers spent weeks trying to find Rosy — and she was finally captured safely on June 17!

Rosy was joyfully reunited with Shawn last week with not a dry eye in the house!
