Planning Director David Maloney retires after 24 years of service

Planning Director David Maloney retired last week after 24 years of service to Hanover. He started with the County in 1999 and was promoted to planning director in 2021.

During his tenure, Maloney oversaw the process of over 1,400 land use applications to the Planning Commission and Board, provided technical expertise during five Comprehensive Plan updates and mentored countless Hanover employees. We wish him a long, healthy and happy retirement.

Share your thoughts on proposed solar policy

The Board of Supervisors is considering a policy that provides recommendations on solar installations within the County. It’s intended to guide the location and development of solar facilities in a way that maintains our rural character. We would like your feedback on the proposed policy.

Family connects foodies with fruit through region's only farm share program

We celebrated National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month in June by recognizing Agriberry Farm and their delicious berries! The Geyer family farm grows blackberries, raspberries and more and is the only fruit-oriented CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program in the Richmond area. This allows customers to purchase products during preseason, supporting local farmers during winter months.

There are several upcoming opportunities to visit the farm including their pick-your-own days every other Saturday through August.
