See How Your Previous Gifts have Helped Shoukat and Bhadur

Shoukat and his horse Bhadur work long hours in a brick kiln in Pakistan to be able to provide an income for their family.
Shoukat told the Brooke team that before he started attending Brooke's community engagement sessions, he would treat Bhadur's harness wounds with brake oil. But then he said, "Since Brooke has intervened, we have learned a lot. I now wash and dress the wounds, as well as resting Bhadur. I also make sure to pad his harness to avoid further wounds.”

Thanks to your donations, Brooke teams remain busy in brick kilns across Pakistan, India, Nepal, and other countries, teaching equine owners how to prevent the sort of injuries and illnesses that have plagued these hard-working animals for centuries.
Reaching another 400,000 equines in East Africa
Brooke East Africa, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, is funded in part by our fabulous Brooke USA donors.

With your continued help, in the next four years, Brooke East Africa has a lofty but certainly achievable goal of reaching an additional 400,000 working donkeys in Kenya, Tanzania, Somaliland and Southern Sudan!
Only $82,845 More to Go to Reach our Goal!
Join us in Honoring Yesterday's WW1 Horse Heroes by Helping
Today's Working Equines
Our "Horse Heroes" campaign has focused on the American horses and mules who served the Allied forces in WW1. For many working equines, not much has changed in the past one hundred years, except in those communities where Brooke's equine welfare programs are in full swing.
We believe that the best way to honor yesterday's Horse Heroes is by helping today's working equines.
We only need $82,845 more to meet our $1 million goal. Please consider a generous year-end donation!
From now through the end of the year, donors of $250 or more to our Horse Heroes campaign will receive a wonderful book, "Warrior: The Amazing Story of a Real War Horse," by General Jack Seely. It's the true story of a Thoroughbred who served - and survived - five years in WW1. Illustrations by Sir Alfred Munnings add to the book's magic.
Brooke Pakistan's Plans
One of the reasons that Brooke's equine welfare programs are so effective is that a tremendous amount of research and other advance work go into planning future programs.

By 2021, with your help, Brook Pakistan plans to have the equine owners and users in 1,024 brick kilns across the country utilizing acceptable animal welfare practices!

Brooke USA Donors are Helping Horse Owning Communities in Latin America to Become Resilient
Brooke USA colleagues in Latin America report that the effects of climate change are becoming stronger there. First they suffered three years of drought caused by El Niño, and now La Niña has brought floods, cyclones and hurricanes.

Looking ahead, Brooke and partners are working with horse owning communities to improve their resilience, which is both necessary and urgent.
An equine victim of recent flooding in Nicaragua, one of Brooke's Latin American programs.
There is also an urgency to convince government authorities to include the animals in their disaster prevention and response plans. That is the only way to help people and reduce their loss, protect their livelihoods, and to reduce the fear and suffering of their animals

The Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) recently hosted a fundraising event for Brooke USA during the $380,000 Rolex Grand Prix.

The event featured celebrity bartenders (including Jessica Springsteen and Paige Bellissimo , pictured) and a silent auction to benefit working horses, donkeys and mules in the poorest countries around the world.

The auction featured items from several Brooke USA ambassadors, offering the rare opportunity to place bids on riding lessons with Brooke USA Ambassadors including JJ Tate, Allison Springer, Tik Maynard and Sinead Halpin . Eventers were thrilled with a schooling package at Windurra Farm with Boyd Martin. Many thanks to everyone who hosted, planned, attended, donated, bar tended, and purchased during this event!
Please remember Brooke USA in your year-end giving!
