It's time to start!

Help get March 2023 proclaimed “Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month”!

In 2022, nine Canadian provinces and territories, alongside a record number of municipalities across the country recognized March as Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month, and/or the last Thursday in March as Myeloma Awareness Day.

This year we are aiming to achieve nationwide recognition of Myeloma Awareness Month in as many municipalities as possible, and in every province and territory.

Step 1: Anytime between today and the end of 2022

Sending proclamation requests

Applications for provincial proclamations are already being sent out! Many support groups have already sent in their letters!

Now we need you to send out your municipal proclamation requests!

Here's how:

The process for requesting and receiving a proclamation differs greatly across Canadian municipalities, but as municipal governments issue numerous proclamations they often provide online resources to assist you. Before you proceed, we advise you search “Proclamations” on your municipality’s website and follow any directions provided.

Documents to provide

Myeloma Canada is providing you with documents that you can easily edit and personalize for your municipality and your journey.

Information to provide

Along with the documents, you'll need to make sure to include in your email, or within the form, the subject of your request and your contact information.

  • Your contact information: name, phone, email, address
  • Title of Proclamation: Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month
  • Date(s) of Proclamation: March 2023
  • Purpose of Proclamation: March is International Myeloma Awareness Month, and I ask that you proclaim the same in [your municipality], in view of helping patients achieve earlier diagnoses and better outcomes by increasing awareness of multiple myeloma in our community.

Sending your proclamation request

If there is no official process to submit your proclamation, the request should be made to Mayor's municipal office. Be sure to indicate your preferred method of being informed of the status of your proclamation request.

Step 2: January and February 2023

Using our automated platform

Like we did in 2022, Myeloma Canada will have an automated platform to send letters to all stakeholders involved in the proclamation process, on municipal and provincial levels.

Only your name, email address and postal code will be necessary for you to

participate!

4 automated mailings will take place at the same time in 2023:

  • Provincial Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month
  • Provincial Amyloidosis Awareness Month
  • Municipal Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month
  • Letter to editor
