Board Focus: Passing the Gavel
Sidney Evering and Jon Rene Josey
At our June 2017 meeting, outgoing President Sidney Evering passed the gavel to J. Rene Josey. We are grateful for Sidney's hard work leading the Foundation into a new era. He led our rebranding effort including a new website and logo and increased our statewide presence. We also want to thank Marie-Louise Ramsdale and Dawes Cooke for their hard work and unwavering dedication to the Foundation.

Please meet the FY 2018 officers: President, J. Rene Josey; President-Elect, Jim Sheedy; and Secretary, Chris Koon. To meet our board members

As president, J. Rene Josey's goals include increasing donor participation and engagement.  "I am looking to expand the amount of support we provide our grantees. Funding these incredible organizations allows us to fulfill our mission of providing civil legal aid, access to justice and law-related education. I hope that you will join us in building a stronger foundation for justice throughout South Carolina."

The greater the financial support, the greater the impact our grantees have in our state.
We are excited to present our 23 grantees for FY18! These nonprofits support the mission of the SCBF and we look forward to working with them.

Donor Focus:  George Cauthen
George Cauthen (center) receiving his DuRant Award from Judge John E. Waites (Nominator) and Sidney Evering (SCBF Board Past- President).
The SC Bar Foundation is grateful for the generous donations we receive to support our grantees' tremendous work. For over 16 years, George Cauthen has faithfully donated to the Foundation because he believes in our mission and our grantees.

"I am certain that when I make a donation to the Foundation, it is not wasted because they carefully vet all grant applications and do a great job on following up with grantee progress. Further, donations to the SCBF are a great way to recognize someone, by making a donation in their honor or their memory. The SCBF is the best charity about letting an honoree know of a donation made in their name."
