Hello October!

From our President:

Stamford Cradle to Career would like to wish the entire community a great start to the fall season. In October we take time to observe National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year in the United States, about 264,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and about 2,400 in men. About 42,000 women and 500 men in the U.S. die each year from breast cancer. This disease effects every sector of our community, please let us know of any local Breast Cancer Awareness Events to be posted to our community wide calendar. You can email information and fliers to stamfordcradletocareer@gmail.com.

October also provides the community time to reflect as we observe Yom Kippur. This is the holiest Jewish holiday and often considered a day of atonement. This day also serves as a reminder to focus on setting intentions for the year ahead.

Our team is excited to launch our 2021 Annual Report to the Community. For the first time, we created a fully virtual report. We hope this format will provide ease of use for our readers, while being a central location for community partners, families, and students to learn more about Stamford Cradle to Career. Please see our recent report here.

Lastly, SC2C has been increasing our involvement in civic engagement work in Stamford. In this effort, we are co-sponsoring a Board of Education Candidates Forum along with the Parent Teacher Council of Stamford Public Schools on November 1, 2022. We hope to provide voters with information about how current Board of Education Candidates feel about the issues most important to them.  Visit this page to learn more about the candidate forum and we look forward to your participation.

Best,

Edith Presley
