Hellebore Alert

Hellebore Hurrah! Pre-Order Launched

Hello Fellow Gardeners,

As our pre-orders launch over the next month, we'll send out the first notification to all of our subscribers. If you are not subscribed to the Hellebore Alert, we do hope you'll get to know this most wonderful group of winter and spring blooming perennials including the 45 cultivars available now for ordering. Details of the pre-order are below.

We'll be sharing articles about hellebores in subsequent Hellebore Alerts. If you're not yet subscribed, you can do so at the bottom of this email.

You can also shop from our Great Rose Pre-Order and our Grafted Veggie Pre-Order. Information is also included below.

Remember that plants make great presents! Many of our customers use the pre-orders to buy Christmas presents for their favourite gardeners. Place your order and then give the lucky person a card for Christmas letting them know what they have to look forward to in the spring.

You can also buy plants for yourself for Christmas. I'm sure Santa would agree that you've been a good gardener this year.

Have fun!

Cheers, Gary and the Phoenicians

The Hellebore Hurrah! Pre-Order

45 amazing hellebores for your winter and spring garden

For our coastal BC gardeners: Is there colour in your garden right now? Or are buds forming that will begin blooming in the next month or two? If not, you need hellebores!

For our colder climate gardeners: Do you have any perennials that bloom as soon as the snow melts and others that can produce a profusion of colour from late winter through spring? If not, you need hellebores too!

Welcome to our Hellebore Hurrah! Pre-Order offering 45 of our favourite hellebores including new cultivars from the Helleborus Gold Collection, Wedding Party, and Ice n' Roses series. In addition to these selected cultivars, we will also have more available for in-person shopping at the Hellebore Hurrah! Opening Week starting February 24th, 2023. Mark your calendars!

Available for: Shipping and Pick-Up - Select your preference at check out.

Estimated Date: Pick-ups begin February 24th and continue through March. Shipping occurs through March and April as soon as weather allows in your region. We must ship hellebores by early to mid April. If you live in a cold region, we will ship once temperatures are safe for hellebores to travel to you but they may arrive a few weeks before they can be planted outside. You may need to protect them until planting.

Plant Details: All plants are blooming size or close to blooming size in 11cm, 15cm, and 1 gallon pots, depending on the cultivar.

Cancellations and Changes: Once plants are ordered, they are reserved for you and can’t be sold to anyone else. We view your order as a commitment you have made with us in good faith. For this reason, cancellations for full refund will only be accepted until February 1st, 2023. After that date you can choose to cancel for a refund minus a 25% restocking fee or cancel for a full store credit. Additions can be made at any time. If you are a pick-up customer simply place another order and put a note about your previous order(s) in the Order Comments box at the end of checking out. If you are a mail order customer, email us with your additions. We'll add them, adjust your shipping charges, and contact you for payment.

The Great Rose

Pre-Order 2023

1st Launch

We are excited to offer our largest selection of roses ever in 2023! Roses will be available in three different launches as we receive confirmations from our growers:

1st Launch: Early November - 73 different David Austin, Brad Jalbert, Meilland, and other roses

2nd Launch: December - Various choice cultivars including tree and patio roses

3rd Launch: February - More David Austin roses

To be the first to know when a launch occurs, sign up for the Rose Alert.

Available for: Shipping across Canada and Pick-Up at the Nursery in Richmond, BC.

Estimated Date for Pick-Up/Shipping: March/April 2023

Plant Details: Roses are top grade bushes. All roses are grafted unless "own root" is noted in the plant details. The rootstocks are specially selected for the Canadian climate.

Shipping Details:

Local Pick-Up Customers: Pick up your order first by electing to receive your roses bare root. The earlier a rose is planted, the better it establishes. On the very last page of the checkout, click the link to open the comments box and type "Bare Root". Bare root orders must be picked up within 1 week. Otherwise roses will be provided potted. Potted pre-orders are held for 4 weeks after which time your plants are returned to general inventory, a 25% restocking fee is deducted, and a credit note for the nursery is issued. No refunds are given.

Courier, Freight, and Mail Order Customers: Shipping will take place in March/April as weather conditions are safe for shipping and about to be warm enough to plant. Roses can be planted as soon as the ground is workable in early spring. For cold climate gardeners we may have to ship slightly before conditions are right for planting if plants are flushing too quickly in our mild spring. In this case you can pot up your roses and keep in a frost-free location until it is warm enough to plant outdoors. All roses will be shipped bare root except if you live in Metro Vancouver or other BC municipalities where courier or freight shipping is cost effective. If you have a preference, please let us know in the Order Comments section at the end of the check out process. We will try to follow your preference but cannot guarantee it as each order and shipping location presents its own unique challenges.

Cancellations and Changes: Once roses are ordered, they are reserved for you and can’t be sold to anyone else. We view your order as a commitment you have made with us in good faith. For this reason cancellations for full refund will only be accepted until February 1st, 2022. After that date you can choose to cancel for a refund minus a 25% restocking fee or cancel for a full store credit.

*Mixed orders will be charged an administrative fee of $5 per pre-order/main catalogue order to cover our costs of separating and organizing your orders. As a rule, all pre-orders ship separately due to timing and different packing requirements. In some cases we may be able to combine some pre-orders to ship together if you send us a detailed email listing all of your orders. While we will do our best, we cannot guarantee that any pre-orders will ship together.

The Grafted Veggie

Pre-Order

Choose from 24 different veggies including Mighty Matos, Mighty Melons, Mighty Veggies and Ketchup 'n Fries!

Welcome to our Grafted Veggie Pre-Order offering hand-grafted edible plants that will produce at least 2-3 times more fruit and offer more disease resistance and cold tolerance than own-root veggies. We are pleased to have a new grower this year that will bring the size and quality of our plants back to what we've had in previous years. Unfortunately it does not look like we will have cucumbers or melons this year but we hope to bring them back in the future.

***EARLY ORDER SAVINGS***

SAVE $1 PER PLANT UNTIL DECEMBER 31st at MIDNIGHT!

Available for: Shipping and Pick-Up - Select your preference at check out.

Estimated Date: Early to Mid May

Plant Details: Plants are provided in 1 gallon pots.

Fertilizer Details: Don't forget your fertilizers. You will not get good yields without a good fertilizer regimen since annual veggies have high nutrient needs. Unfortunately, we cannot ship fertilizers. Please do not order if you are a mail order customer. However, if you require shipping within Greater Vancouver, we will likely send your plants via courier rather than Canada Post so you can order fertilizers with these local orders.

Cancellations and Changes: Once ordered, plants are reserved for you. Cancellations for full refund will be accepted until April 1st, 2023. From that date until your order is pulled you can choose to cancel for a refund minus a 25% restocking fee or cancel for a full store credit. Once orders are pulled, no cancellations are accepted or refunds given including for orders not picked up.
