YOUR SUCCESS STORIES
NBANH Annual Award Recipients
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to France L. Marquis for her exceptional accomplishments and contributions to Les Résidences Jodin Inc., of Edmundston. Since the arrival of Ms. Marquis to the board of directors of the home, several projects and achievements have been brought to fruition such as the dentistry rooms, cuddle therapy, rehabilitation, palliative care rooms, the dining room for employees, the construction of a garage, the construction of a garden pavilion for residents and the home became a member of the French-speaking Planetree Network.
The Resident-Centred Home Award was given to Les Résidences Inkerman Inc. for all of the recreational activities and positive impacts on the community. The community of Inkerman talks very positively about the home since the staff organize unforgettable and out-of-the-ordinary activities for residents. It all started with the arrival of an employee, Ms. Sonia Nowlan, who earned the trust of the staff through her dedication to the well-being of the residents. Staff help each other and care employees want to participate and help in activities to provide great experiences for residents, sometimes at level 4 of care, keeping in mind safety for everyone.
Nursing Home Week Celebration

On Tuesday, the in-house Tim Horton's Drive-Thru was a big hit, allowing residents to enjoy their favorite Tim Horton's beverages and snacks without leaving the comfort of the facility. Lunch was a special event with homemade pizza, which the residents thoroughly enjoyed on Wednesday. The day started on Thursday with a delightful visit from their MLA, Margaret Johnson, who spent time engaging with the residents. In the afternoon, they hosted a special BBQ in coordination with Nursing Home Without Walls; hamburgers and hot dogs were served while enjoying musical entertainment, and a visit from the Perth-Andover Mayor. The week wrapped up on Friday with a heartwarming visit with children ages 0-4 from the "Manor Munchkins" playgroup. The residents enjoyed subs for lunch while they crowned the VGM King and Queen voted by the staff.

Caring in Canada
Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence
Caring in Canada provides an in-depth analysis of the survey results collected in the National Caregiving Survey completed by more than 3,000 caregivers and care providers from across Canada. The survey, conducted by Leger Communications offers new insights into the experiences of caregivers and care providers across Canada.
As part of our commitment to serving equity seeking groups, the report oversampled Indigenous caregivers and offers insights from racialized, LGBTQ2S+, young caregivers and siblings.
Mental health and well-being are integral to a good quality of life for all Canadians, including residents in long-term care (LTC) and assisted living (AL) settings. A new standard CSA Z2004, Mental health and well-being in long-term care and assisted living settings, aims to help create the conditions that support mental health needs of residents living in these settings.
This report highlights the learnings from consultation sessions and the public review of CSA Z2004: Mental health and well-being in LTC.
