about it. I also enjoy the people I work with, including my sons, who I get to see everyday. All our employees are really good people.

~Scott Bottoms,
President of  Danville Office Equipment

As the only office equipment company in downtown Danville, Danville Office Equipment is a unique retail business. The store sells an assortment of business items, including office supplies, copiers, fax machines, furniture, as  well as some printing services. In addition to being a retail store, DOE does a lot of wholesale furniture and equipment business.  There are three other DOE branches in Lebanon, Liberty, and Somerset, and together they service a 25 county area. The team at DOE strives to provide great service to anyone, whether it's to help a customer make a copy or lease a copy machine. Their customers range from 'mom and pop' businesses to doctors' offices to industries of all kinds. With delivery service also available, DOE is accessible and convenient for any of their customers' office needs.

Scott Bottoms is the fourth owner of DOE. The office supply store was first  opened in 1951 by Jesse Shearer and located on South Fourth Street. Carlton Brown, who worked with Shearer at DOE, became a partner in the business in 1966. Carlton Brown brought in a young Ted Baker to work with him at DOE and Ted served in many positions over many years before buying the business from Jesse and Carlton in 1984.  By the time Ted took ownership of DOE, the store was located on West Main and it grew to take up two of downtown's most impressive historic commercial buildings.  Like Carlton and Ted before him, Scott had experience working in the store before owning it, giving him an upper edge when he purchased the business and took over operations in 2013.  Today both of Scott's sons, Brandon and Kyle, help him with sales and operations at DOE, keeping the multi-generational legacy of the business going.
