Health Workforce Scholarship Spotlight

Shanel Hall, a current Licensed Practical Nurse at Universal Primary Care, was recently awarded a scholarship from the Southern Tier West Health Workforce Partnership's Health Workforce Scholarship Committee, supported by Chautauqua Health Network's Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network Program (HRSA) grant.

Hall, a mother of three, has worked for Universal Primary Care for nearly three years and has managed to balance her full-time workload with a full semester of schooling, as she is currently enrolled at Jamestown Community College with hopes of becoming a Registered Nurse.

“Her school schedule has never interfered with her work, and she has continued to manage all responsibilities outside of work, while additionally taking on new tasks at Universal Primary Care,” said Amanda Delaney, a nursing supervisor at Universal Primary Care. “She has been an integral member of the Coleman DPI team since the beginning as well as taking over some of the duties of managing our Olean VFC vaccines.”

This scholarship will aid Hall in her goals of furthering her educational pursuits and advancing her professional career. Hall has even considered potentially pursuing Nurse Practitioner training further down the road and welcomes the task of taking on even more responsibility at Universal Primary Care in whatever capacity that may be.
