Eight groups of students in Georgetown’s Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice Program worked to free themselves from an “escape room,” a learning scenario that challenged them to use their professional skills under pressure and rely on their knowledge, critical thinking and teammates for success.
The detection of an aggressive form of lung cancer in a patient treated by Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center experts demonstrates the importance of routine screenings. But a provision in the Affordable Care Act that covers lung cancer screening is in jeopardy.

Awards and Achievements
As the McKean Fellow, Sydney Blackston (N‘25) will receive research mentoring before launching an independent research project. During the 2023-2024 academic year, Blackston will work with Jessica Kritz, JD, assistant professor of global health at Georgetown’s School of Health, before pursuing her independent research exploring the impact of Canadian wildfires on indigenous groups.

Construction to replace critical underground infrastructure supporting Georgetown’s central heating and cooling plant will require the excavation of a section of West Road between the plant and Cooper Field. Both lanes of this section of West Road will be closed from Tuesday, August 29, through Thursday, November 30, 2023.
