Construction progress: Timelapse video

Crews are starting to pour concrete at the hospital expansion construction site and are working on the second of three levels for the west stairwell. They have drilled more than 130 piers out of 168 and formed several west-side columns. Watch the time-lapse video to see the progress from the start of demolition in May to this week.

Bolivar Community Blood Drive is Aug. 22

CMH is hosting a Bolivar Community Blood Drive from noon-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 1220 S. Springfield Ave., Bolivar. Successful donors will receive a voucher for two free general admissions to the Dickerson Park Zoo. Donors will also receive a limited-edition zoo-themed T-shirt, while supplies last. Rachel Pruett, M.D, joins General Surgery

CMH General Surgery Clinic welcomes surgeon Rachel Pruett, M.D. In addition to general surgical procedures, she brings some new procedures to CMH, including varicose vein treatment, dialysis access surgery, and thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Dermatologist Ajdin Kobic, M.D., FAAD, joins Murphy Mastin, M.D., at the CMH Dermatology Clinic in Bolivar. Dr. Kobic specializes in Mohs surgery for treating skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Free memberships at the CMH Senior Health Center

It's hot out right now, which can make it unsafe to exercise outdoors, especially for seniors. At the CMH Senior Health Center, you can exercise for free in a safe environment. Walk the treadmill, ride a stationary or recumbent bike, lift hand weights or use the multi-gym weight machine. Group exercise classes make exercising a little more fun, too. Memberships are free to individuals in Polk, Green, Dallas, Dade, Hickory, Cedar and St. Clair Counties who are 55 or older. Learn more and download a membership application.
