Bayer to be Honored at Rescheduled Convocation
Georgetown University's 2018 Spring Faculty Convocation, honoring Barbara Bayer, PhD, has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 5 at 5:00 p.m. in Gaston Hall. Since 1983, Bayer has served as a member of the faculty at Georgetown University Medical Center. She currently serves as professor and chair of the department of neuroscience and senior associate dean for biomedical graduate education. Bayer will give the "Life of Learning" lecture at the convocation.
Maria Jasin, PhD, the William E. Snee Chair in the developmental biology program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, will give a keynote address titled "Protecting the Genome by Homologous Recombination (and Its Utility for Genome Editing)" at the 16th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference on Wednesday, April 18 at 12:00 p.m. at the Healey Family Student Center. Neuroscience Student to Attend Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting
Patrick Malone, an MD/PhD candidate in neuroscience, has been selected to attend the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany this June. The meeting will bring together 43 Nobel Laureates and the world's top young scientists, including undergraduates, PhD students and post-doc researchers. Read more about the meeting

A student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School joined Georgetown Law and School of Medicine faculty, students, and a fellow from the Cato Institute for a discussion hosted by the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law. The group discussed greater school security measures, funding, mental health efforts, and other ways to prevent more mass shootings that both preserve public health and the Second Amendment.
