WEEKLY UPDATE:  April 20 - 26, 2024

WEST CAMPUS

DATA SCIENCE AND COMPUTATION COMPLEX:

  • Deliveries from 5:45am to 10am will increase traffic on Jane Stanford Way. Please obey flag persons.
  • Expect increased traffic on Lomita Drive due to deliveries and debris removal.
  • Concrete demolition at the northwest corner of the site, near Blend Eatery, will be noisy.
  • Excavation for the stairs on the east side of the site will involve heavy machinery and increase dirt truck traffic. 


JANE STANFORD WAY - NIGHT WORK:

  • Installation of chilled water on Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Ortega continues.
  • Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Ortega, will be closed from 9pm to 6am. Please follow the posted detour for vehicles and bikes.
  • The southern sidewalk on Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Pueblo, will be closed during construction. Pedestrians, please follow posted detour.
  • Work hours are 8pm to 6am, Monday through Thursday, with the road closure beginning at 9pm.

 

HISTORY CORNER - NIGHT WORK:

  • Fire water work continues this week. A section of the courtyard (Building 200) is projected to remain closed through the month of April.
  • Access to Building 200 from the courtyard will be impacted during construction. Pedestrians, please follow the posted detour.
  • Access to Olives Café will not be impacted during construction.
  • Work hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:30pm to 7:30am.

 

HISTORY CORNER - DAY WORK:

  • Installation of handrails in the lower courtyard (Building 160 and Building 200) will take place on Saturday, 4/20, from 7am to 4pm. This work is expected to be loud. Please plan accordingly.
  • Access to Olives Café will not be impacted during construction.


MAIN QUAD - NIGHT WORK:

  • Electrical Reliability Improvements (ERI) work begins in the Main Quad.
  • Some pedestrian detours will be in place, please follow detour instructions.
  • Work hours are 9:30pm to 8am, Monday through Friday.

EAST CAMPUS

MAPLES PAVILION EXPANSION:

  • Underground utilities installation will continue through Spring. Expect excessive noise and dust.
  • The sidewalk on Campus Drive is closed. Follow detour signs to ensure your safety.
  • Fire water tie in will continue with an expected end date of 5/27. The path between Maples and Arrillaga Sports Center will be partially fenced off during this time and bike racks will be closed. 

 

TAUBE TENNIS SOUTH (ENCINA TENNIS COURTS):

  • Intermittent disturbances may occur on the paths adjacent to the courts through October due to construction activities. 
  • Tree boxing will occur Friday 4/19 possibly continuing Saturday 4/20 and Monday 4/22. The path next to Taube South leading to Maples will be partially blocked off during this time.

 

FIELD HOCKEY FIELD REPLACEMENT:

  • Intermittent disturbances may occur around the field due to construction activities through July.


GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:

  • Escondido Mall remains closed between Meyer Green and Lasuen Mall.
  • The CERAS gate will be utilized weekly for dumpster removals/replacements, material deliveries, and dump trucks.
  • Structural upgrades of GSE North are ongoing; expect increased noise and vibration.
  • Large concrete pours will occur Monday, 4/22, Thursday, 4/25, and Friday, 4/26, starting at 5am and concluding by early afternoon. Please be alert for concrete trucks entering the site via Escondido Road/Mall.
  • A small concrete pour will occur the morning of Tuesday, 4/23 (official start time TBD). Please be alert for concrete trucks entering the site via Escondido Road/Mall.
  • Work will occur this Saturday, 4/20, including scaffolding and steel work at GSE North.
  • Follow all posted signage around the site fence for alternate pathways.


MEYER GREEN PATHWAY & PLANTING: 

  • Paving and planting work continues near Meyer Plinth on the north and south sides of Panama Mall. 
  • Please observe posted detour signs and use caution when traveling in the area.


OLMSTED ROAD UTILITIES:

  • Installation of domestic water on Olmsted Road continues this week.
  • Domestic water shut down and tie-ins are scheduled as follows:
  • Building 71 and Building 77, Thursday 4/25, 8:30am to 5:30pm
  • Building 78 and Building 79, Friday 4/26, 9am to 12pm
  • Mulberry House and Acorn House, Saturday 4/27, 9am to 5:30pm
  • Building 82 and Building 83, Monday 4/29, 9am to 12pm
  • Building 80 and Building 81, Monday 4/29, 9am to 5:30pm
  • One lane, two-way traffic on Olmsted Road continues.
  • Work hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.


PAMPAS LANE POLICE YARD:

  • Loud demolition work continues this week, and grading work will begin towards the end of the week.
  • Pedestrian pathways will be modified, but will remain open during construction. Pedestrians, please follow the posted detour.
  • Work hours are 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.


CROTHERS WAY EXTENSION:

  • Construction for the trash enclosure will commence this week.
  • Pedestrian access will not be impacted during construction.
  • Expect loud demolition and vibration during work hours.
  • Work hours are 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.


QUILLEN HIGHRISE RENOVATION:

  • Crews will be working Saturdays, from 9am to 5pm.


RESERVOIR 1 PUMP STATION:

  • Utility installation will occur from 4/22 to 6/28.
  • Work hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
  • No closures to the Dish Trail are anticipated. Please follow posted signage for pedestrian detours.

SAFETY REMINDERS

  • Avoid using cell phones while walking or biking, especially around construction sites.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings as you walk, run, bike, or drive around campus.
  • Anticipate detours in construction areas and follow the directions of flaggers and signs.
  • If you're riding a bike, follow the rules of the road - stop at signs.
  • Allow a little more time than usual to travel on campus.
