Schedule Change Due to Eclipse
As you may have heard, there will be a total solar eclipse visible over most of the United States on Monday, August 21. The last time we had a similar event was 1918. While the Polk County region is south of the complete blackout zone, we will still experience much of it. The eclipse will occur between 1:15pm and 4:20pm, with the darkest period projected for  2:50pm.

The risk to eye exposure is significant; everyone should be reminded that they should not look directly at the sun as this can cause serious damage to their eyes or even blindness. Proper eye protection, like eclipse glasses or a sun filter, is the only safe option (there are many fraudulent glasses out there that will not work). Sunglasses do not adequately protect the eyes from a solar eclipse.

Because the peak coverage during the eclipse occurs during normal dismissal time, we have made decisions that are in the best interest of the safety of our students.
  • Santa Fe Catholic will operate on a half-day schedule. Dismissal will be at 12:30pm, after lunch.  This half day will not impact our required number of instructional days.
  • Students not picked up prior to 1:00pm. will be held in the LC until checked out by their parent.
  • ALL outdoor sports, activities, practices, etc. will be held indoors until after 4:30pm.

TEXTBOOK/CLASSROOM INFORMATION
  Order Textbooks
Click here for the updated Textbook list. Please note the following on the textbook list:
  • In the first column, "R" is for Regular and "H" is for Honors and "AP" is for Advanced Placement.
  • In the Last column "choice" means purchase either the e-book or the textbook.
  • (Blue highlighted columns) can ONLY be purchased through Follett.
  • US History is the same as American History.
  • Textbook information needed for Polk State dual enrollment courses will be given by the professor.
Follett Rental
If you rent a textbook through Follett, it is their practice to set the rental return date as the last day of school.  Families will need to "check-in" their books online by that date and then they can return them to Follett as soon as the final tests are completed.

English Classes
The English classes will be using digital curriculum materials again this year. Materials for all regular and honors English classes will be delivered, completed, and submitted online. Rather than purchasing a textbook, each student in a regular or honors class is required to pay a materials fee for English for the 2017-2018 school year. The fee is $45.00 per student.

Dual Enrollment Classes
All students scheduled to take any dual enrollment with Polk State will need to take the PERT test. Students who have already taken the SAT or ACT test may be exempt from the PERT test if their scores are high enough. Please contact Polk State at (863) 297.1000 to either set up the PERT test or confirm that you are exempt from taking it. Registration for all dual enrollment courses will be done at Santa Fe.
