Principal Message

Dear Hutton Elementary School Families,

As we welcome the crisp air and changing leaves of the fall season, I am filled with excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead for our students, educators, and the Hutton Elementary community. We’ve had a tremendous start to the school year, marked by a buzzing atmosphere of learning and collaboration.

Mark your calendars for our upcoming LC Zone Community Night! I personally invite each and every one of you to join us on Friday, October 6th, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, then heading over to the LC Homecoming Game at the new One Spokane Stadium. All Hutton students can attend the game for free and will be recognized on the field before the entire community. This event promises to be a fun-filled community night for our entire zone. Don’t miss it!

As we venture into this school year, I want to remind all families that we are steadfast in our commitment to fostering a culture of equity and inclusion. We recognize and appreciate the unique contributions that each student, staff member, and family brings to our community. Please know that your voices are important, and we're here to support every child's journey to success.

Remember, communication is vital. I invite you to stay connected with us through our school website, newsletters, and social media channels. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of our staff members if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we embark on a wonderful, enriching fall season at Hutton Elementary. Here's to making it the best one yet!

Hutton Happenings

Students in Mrs. Lipsker's class learning names and 4th graders outside at recess playing tug-o-war with Mr. Rey, Recess Supervisor. We are in the full swing of school!

The Recycling Rockstars came to Hutton this week! This school-wide assembly takes students on a fun and interactive adventure to learn the importance of recycling and reducing waste, and simple everyday actions to protect the planet. They were so much fun and put on a great show!

Ms. Dhaenens' class and Mrs. Crawford's class dressed in their

Hawk's Nest colors last Friday!

Important School Information

Parents, please remember to review the Hutton Parent Handbook and the Hutton Hawk Behavior Plan. Please refer to the last page of the Behavior Plan on the Parent Record of Review. We ask that you review that page with your child and return it to your child's teacher. Thank you!

Morning Arrival,

Breakfast and More!

Students who are not eating breakfast at school are allowed on campus beginning at 8:15 AM. Students line up in their designated line up spot (See MAP Below) and are picked up by their teachers and walked into the building. Dismissal doors at the end of the day are the same; EXCEPT FOR... Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Lipsker, Mrs. Pedersen, and Mrs. Dhaenens. These four classrooms dismiss to the parent loop through the SW door.

Students wishing to eat breakfast may arrive on campus to eat after 8:00 AM. Breakfast eaters will enter into the cafeteria through the blacktop doors and eat inside the cafeteria. *Mondays are professional collaboration days and school does not start until 9:30 AM, so breakfast would begin at 9:00 AM. Breakfast is made available to all students up to 10:00 AM.

Students need to head directly home after school as the playground is open only to students in Express.

Parents, please remember that we are a Single Point of Entry. ALL visitors need to report to the office to enter the school building. Please do not enter the school with your child for breakfast through the MPR doors on the black top.

The weather is slowly getting colder! Please remember to send your child to school with the appropriate clothing.

Picture Day is Coming

Individual picture day is Thursday, October 12th. Picture envelopes will go home with your student on Tuesday.

Dogs

Even the friendliest dog can cause problems on a playground full of children. In compliance with our district wide policy, DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SCHOOL PREMISES. Only service animals are allowed inside the school without advanced written permission of school administration.

Hutton Family Directory

It's that time of year to sign up for the Hutton Directory! Each year, Hutton creates a directory of student and family information that is emailed out to families. This is a great resource for coordinating playdates, birthday parties, or connecting with new friends. Participation is optional, but if you'd like your information to be included in the 2023-24 Hutton Directory, please follow the link and complete by October 13th

Mini Grants

Our Student Mini Grant Program is coming October 2nd! Mini Grants is a chance for students to submit ideas for programs, supplies, and activities that will help their class and school. The PTG will fund these ideas up to $250 if selected! This program runs all year long, but the first due date is November 21st. Please complete the application here.

World Languages

World Languages is returning to Hutton! World Languages is an afterschool activity available for 1st through 5th graders and allows students to be introduced to a foreign language for a few weeks. This year, the program runs October 16th-November 20th and we are offering Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and French. The cost is $30 per student and financial assistance is available. Please sign up your student up here! Because of limited availability, students are only able to take one language course.

Monster Mash

October 27, 2023

It's almost time for the Monster Mash! Monster Mash is Hutton's annual fall time celebration where the halls of our school are transformed into a family-friendly, fun, and spooky party! Come for the dancing, music by DJ Rolando, games, treats, and Radical Rick's mysterious science experiments. There will also be crafts and festive stories! Wear your costume and bring the whole family!

Volunteers are essential to making this a safe event! We need donated supplies, help with set up and clean up, and running the event. Please sign up here! If you'd like to be involved with the committee, please reach out to our committee chair, Megan Jackson. She is available via email (MeganKBJackson@gmail.com) or text (253-224-7798).
