The First Sunday After Pentecost: Trinity Sunday
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever.Amen.

It is with deep sadness to announce the death of our beloved and faithful servant, Dora Liu Kraul, who passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, just a couple months after her 101st birthday.
Dora, whose dynamic presence and decades of unwavering service in the Diocese of Hawai'i, was made an Honorary Canon of The Cathedral of St. Andrew in 2023. Through the years, and until her death, she actively served in numerous leadership roles not only in her local churches (Parish of St. Clement, Honolulu and Church of the Holy Apostles, Hilo), but on numerous Diocesan ministries, committees, Council, as a delegate to Diocesan Convention, and as a Deputy to General Convention seven times.
In March of 2023, the Diocese's online news, The Hawaiian Church Chronicle, featured an article about Dora's remarkable life and dedication to the Church (see Dora Liu Kraul: Celebrating a Centenarian & Canon, March 9, 2023).
There will be two memorial services for "Aunty Dora" as follows:

Pentecost: A Weekend of Celebration at The Cathedral
The Cathedral of St. Andrew was on fire with the Holy Spirit this past weekend that began on Saturday, May 18, with a Vigil of Pentecost. Bishop Robert Fitzpatrick led the special service that involved eight different churches from around the Diocese (including Holy Apostles from Hawai'i Island). Attending the Province VIII Chaplain's Conference

|  | Our Diocesan team of five Chaplains to Retired Clergy Families attended the annual Chaplains to the Retired Conference that was held at The Bishop’s Ranch in Healdsburg, CA, north of San Francisco. The conference took place April 30 - May 3, 2024. This is a Church Pension Group (CPG) program and this year's theme was on "Wellness: Creating Your Path" led by Dr. Karen Keune. Our traveling chaplains were: the Revs. Bruce DeGooyer, Carol Arney, Heather Mueller, Cn. Franklin Chun, and Mrs. Norma Chun. This conference would be the last for CPG Assistant Vice President, the Rev. Laura Queen, who led this program for the past 13 years and is retiring. The Hawai'i Chaplains made sure to bid her a fond aloha with a lei (that she wore for several days) a serenade (created by Heather) and presentation of a Hawaiian print stole that was made by Deb Lynch of St. John’s on Maui. NOMINATIONS & RESOLUTIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED
Nominations for several governance positions including Diocesan Council, Standing Committee, Cathedral Chapter, and Secretary of Convention, are now being accepted for consideration during the 56th Annual Meeting of Convention in October. Also being accepted are resolutions to be considered during the Annual Meeting. For forms and information on how to submit nominations and resolutions can be found on the Convention 56 webpage HERE.

DIOCESE OF HAWAI'I DEPUTATION TO GENERAL CONVENTION: The 81st General Convention (GC81) will be taking place June 23-28, 2024. in Louisville, Kentucky. General Convention is the governing body of The Episcopal Church. Every three years it meets as a bicameral legislature that includes the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops, composed of deputies and bishops from each diocese. Please keep our Deputation team in your prayers as they continue to prepare for General Convention in just a few weeks. THIS SUNDAY, MAY 26: TRINITY SUNDAY OFFERING
Since 2015, The Episcopal Diocese of Hawai‘i has set aside Trinity Sunday each year to celebrate Camp Mokulē'ia's ministry and collect a special offering to help support the camp. Trinity Sunday donations help us grow our Summer Camp program. (Read the Bishop's letter HERE.)

The Trinity Sunday offering this year is going to help camp with much needed transportation needs for our summer camp programs. This is a pressing need, as we have had increasing issues with our camp owned van. With this offering we will be able to off-set issues and costs for all transportation needs during our summer camp programs.

KAUA'I: Celebration of New Ministry at Christ Memorial | Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Kilauea officially welcomed their Vicar with a Celebration of New Ministry service on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The Rev. Catherine Amy Kropp has been with Christ Memorial since November 1, 2023. A reception was held before the early evening service. St. Andrew's Priory: Ascension Day & the Coral Cross
The students of St. Andrew's Priory celebrated Ascension Day on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in honor of Queen Emma Kaleleonālani who founded the school in 1867. It was also a day steeped in tradition as the Junior Class of 2025 unveiled their beautifully decorated coral cross, before joining hands with the Senior Class of 2024, and sharing gifts of song.
