This issue's header photo was taken at St. Columba's in Pa'auilo on Tuesday, April 30, with the return of their free community meal program in their brand new kitchen! Their meal ministry started up during COVID when the Rev. Linda Lundgren (pictured second from right) saw the growing need triggered by the pandemic. At the time, meals were prepared and shuttled over from the kitchen at St. James' in Waimea, 20 miles away. They are looking forward to serving many more meals in the comfort of their own kitchen! Ascension Day

Almighty God, whose blessed Son our Savior Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens that he might fill all things: Mercifully give us faith to perceive that, according to his promise, he abides with his Church on earth, even to the end of the ages; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Clergy from Hawai'i made their presence known at a Western regional conference called "We are all Related," co-sponsored by The Episcopal Church Office for Indigenous Ministries and The Church Pension Group. It is designed for Indigenous clergy and "non-Indigenous clergy who serve native congregants." The conference, which was held on May 2-3, in Seattle WA, gave participants a chance to learn more about this church ministry as well as the work that CPG does in this area. In Thanksgiving for the Ministry of Women in the Episcopal Church

THE 56TH ANNUAL MEETING OF CONVENTION

This year marks the 50th anniversary of women being ordained in The Episcopal Church, and is part of the reason for this year's Convention theme. Women have long played a key role in the life of the church whether lay or ordained, and we commemorate all women for their contribution, service, and dedication. This year's logo represents women of faith in the islands, and the pink rose, which is one of Queen Emma's favorite flowers, is also the official flower of Maui, as we continue to keep those affected in our prayers. The color green is incorporated to represent our commitment to care for the environment and Mother Earth.

Over the next few months leading up to Convention, be sure to stay informed and check the event webpage often for updates HERE.

Theme Scripture Verse: "You are all God’s children through faith in Christ Jesus. All of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. The Episcopal News Service just released an article on the testimony given to the legislative committees on Prayer Book, Liturgy & Music, on resolutions that will be up for consideration in the 81st General Convention of The Episcopal Church this July, in Louisville, KY. Pictured front and center (below left) is the Diocese's Archdeacon, the Ven. Steve Costa, giving testimony during an online hearing. Also providing input in the article is Mary Carpenter and Ryan Kusumoto. The resolution calls for the addition of Queen Lili'uokalani into the Church's calendar (AKA Lesser Feasts & Fasts). WRITTEN TESTIMONY NEEDED - Folks are invited to submit written testimony for our Queen, with an emphasis on her role as a peacemaker and woman of faith who lived a life of humility and forgiveness. At the last General Convention in 2022, our Archdeacon Steve Costa introduced the resolution and proposed collect (shown above right). NOTE: If you already submitted testimony at the 80th GC, it is on file and you do NOT need to suibmit again.
