Low waste holiday party


There are many occasions to celebrate with friends and colleagues. Here are some ways to reduce waste during your next holiday party!

  • Create cool digital party invitations.
  • Decorate large potted plants with LED lights!
  • Use durable dishware, utensils and cloth napkins.
  • Donate to your colleague's favorite non-profit.
  • Organize a vegan and vegetarian potluck using only local and seasonal foods.
  • Share party leftovers with colleagues and compost all uneaten food scraps.
  • Give virtual gift card for local businesses or experiences like museums, live music, theater or outdoor adventures.

  • Paper and cardboard
  • Metal cans and containers
  • Plastic bottles and round containers
  • Glass bottles and jars

Welcome new staff!


Odalis Aguilera joined the Green Business Leaders team in October 2023 and helps businesses comply with food waste requirements. She was born and raised in Washington County. She is a proud Latina with roots in Mexico City, Mexico. Odalis studied Business Management and Marketing at Portland State University. She loves to participate in sports, especially soccer. Her life goal is to help the community and make an impactful change for future generations. Being a mom of a beautiful boy has made her focus more on his future and those after him.

Calvin Agricola joined the Green Business Leaders team in September 2023. He helps businesses reduce food waste and provides recycling education. Previously, he managed the quarantine and isolation program and organized community vaccine clinics during the COVID-19 emergency at Washington County Public Health. Calvin earned bachelor’s degrees in environmental studies and science and minored in sustainability and GIS from Portland State University. Calvin's perfect day involves walking his dog, spending time with friends and family, enjoying great coffee and watching the sunset on Mt. Hood.
