"The law of harvest is to reap more than you sow. Sow an act, and you reap a habit. Sow a habit, and you reap a character. Sow a character, and you reap a destiny."
James Allen
It's been an interesting, challenging, and rewarding month and year.
We've sowed so much in the last two years as a Black lead and centered organization--with the support of our staff, co-conspirators, funders, community members, and believers in humanity. As a result, we've harvested so much more, including new partnerships, and the ability to support families in their transformative journey, we've hired an executive team and coordinators, and we've enrolled new strategies, new understanding, and new approaches. And we couldn't be more proud of ourselves and our community.
Hey My Beautiful People,

We are so excited about our weekend event--celebrating what we've sowed, harvested, and our community. Because of community, we've harvested about 10,000 lbs of food this summer, and it's still growing. We have an overabundance of food.

The Farley Center has been a godsend, allowing our program to grow and expand our support services through our Supporting Health Black Agriculture program. We're celebrating not only our agriculture program but also unheard-of milestones we've achieved as a new non-profit.

Milestones Include:

  1. This year we've distributed about 12 Million dollars in rental support
  2. We've supported more than 100 families in finding permanent housing after homelessness
  3. We've provided advocacy for more than 125 families
  4. We delivered over 4000 meals this year
  5. We've distributed more than 400 essential bags
  6. We ran six transformative workgroups in 8 months
  7. We hired a Director of Operations
  8. We also hired a Chief Officer of Development
  9. We launched our partnership with Thoreau Elementary providing Supporting Healthy Black Youth programming within the school, including fitness and tutoring.
  10. In addition to providing a Supporting Healthy Black Families workgroup to their parents (programming begins at Thoreau on 10/16/22).

We've done so much, and it's because of our relationships with co-conspirators, volunteers, government officials, and the community. A special shout-out is needed for our donors whom we don't acknowledge enough--which will change as we expand our capacity.

Join us this Saturday! Laugh with us, play with us, smile, and jam with us. Discover what community looks like in action!
Our 1st Annual Urban Harvest Festival seeks to recognize and celebrate the collective success of Urban Triage's staff, volunteers, co-conspirators, and supporters working cooperatively and collaboratively to transform our community. Because of partnership and collaboration, we've served over 12,000 people in the last two years. That's a huge accomplishment for a small Black lead organization made possible by the community. And we would like to celebrate with you!
