Jeffrey R. Zuckerman Elected President of The Hampton Synagogue
This past Tuesday evening, the Board of Trustees of The Hampton Synagogue unanimously elected Jeffrey R. Zuckerman the 4th president of the congregation. Jeff Zuckerman succeeds Carol Levin, who enthusiastically put forth his nomination, which was seconded by Trustee, Michael Shabsels. Carol now holds the title of Honorary President.
Jeff & Shari Zuckerman are synagogue benefactors and Chihuly Window Donors who have steadily taken on positions of leadership in the congregation. Jeff has served as a synagogue Trustee and Legal Counsel. Shari, honored as our 2023 Mother's Day Sabbath Woman of the Year, has chaired a variety of synagogue events and initiatives, including our historic 2023 mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Türkiye.
Jeff is a graduate of NYU’s College of Arts & Sciences and the NYU School of Law. In his 40-year legal career, Jeff served as a senior official with the United States Securities & Exchange Commission and head regulatory lawyer and Deputy General Counsel of Smith Barney, Salomon Smith Barney and the Citigroup Global Corporate and Investment Bank. He practiced law at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, LLP, representing global financial institutions and individuals in government investigations and complex litigation. Currently, he focuses on mediation.
In congratulating Jeff Zuckerman, Rabbi Schneier noted how, in our 34 year history, each president of the congregation made a unique contribution to the synagogue's development. Jeff's interests, the rabbi continued, are focused on governance and building the endowment to support and sustain the exponential growth of The Hampton Synagogue.
Jeff, Shari, and their son, Alec, reside in Westhampton Beach and New York City.
The congregation will celebrate the new presidency of Jeff Zuckerman on Independence Day Weekend Shabbat, July 6. A tribute to Honorary President Carol Levin will take place at our Labor Day Weekend, September 1 Season of Recognition dedication event.

See you at Shul! Dune Deck is again very generously providing Saturday shuttle service that makes regular loops around Westhampton Beach [see schedule and stops below - watch for the white Hampton Hopper minibus], connecting Dune Road with the village. This hop-on/hop-off community service will again be available, free of charge, to anyone who wants it. This year, the service is expanded with stops on the "mainland," including the corner of Bayfield Lane and Oneck Road. This service may enable those who find it difficult to walk long distances in the summer heat to attend The Hampton Synagogue, as one of the stops in town is at CVS, just across the street from the synagogue.

Located at Jack’s House, the Manes Art Center of The Hampton Synagogue in Westhampton Beach engages members of the greater Hamptons community in high-quality works of art and cultural experiences for the educational and enhancement of all.
The Manes Art center is the gift of our distinguished benefactor, Dr. Harvey Manes, a passionate collector of art for over 40 years. Dr. Manes sits on the Board of the Nassau County Museum of Art and has lent numerous works from his collection to notable museums, including the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), Heckscher Museum, NCMA, Jewish Museum-NYC, and others.
The quality and breadth of the Manes Art Center collection features an eclectic collection of modern, contemporary, and old master artists, as well as sculptures. Artists in the collection include Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Koons, Salvador Dali, Roy Lichtenstein, Marc Chagall, Yaacov Agam, Jim Dine, among others.
On permanent view in the Barnet Family Chapel is the work of world-renowned artist, Dale Chihuly, who designed and created the Chapel’s Fiore windows that allow natural light to interact with the space in dynamic harmony, Eternal Light, and the only Menorah of Chihuly’s illustrious career.
