2024 Operating Budget Tentatively Adopted
The Board of Supervisors tentatively adopted the 2024 budget at their November 13th meeting. The budget is available for public review. A public hearing will be held on December 11th at 7 pm, with final adoption occurring that evening.
The budget includes the renewal of the 0.5 mill Special Projects/Capital Purposes tax for three years, and a real estate tax increase of 1.1 mills. The real estate tax millage increase will help address rising costs while maintaining the same level of services.
The fire hydrant assessment will be increased from .03 to .036 mills to cover hydrant fees set by the State College Borough Water Authority. Hydrant fees are paid by properties that are located within 780 feet of a fire hydrant.
The Township proposes the following projects next year: repairs to the Boalsburg Pike culvert, completion of the Boalsburg Pike paving project, paving of Old Boalsburg Road from Boal Avenue to the turn towards the cemetery, and a retrofit of the Willowbrook stormwater basin. The Township also plans improvements to Country Place Park including the installation of pathways and refurbishing the slide, and improvements to Tussey Pond Park including the installation of pathways and a fishing pier.
The budget can be viewed at the Township office. It’s also available online at: https://www.harristownship.org/tax-finance/budget/. Residents are invited to submit comments or questions on the budget. They can be sent to the Township Manager at manager@harristownship.org
