Welcome to a new school year—an exciting chapter where each day promises new learning, growth, and the joy of chasing our dreams together. As we shake off the summer and embrace the vibrant hues of fall, I am thrilled to share some uplifting updates that underscore the commitment and achievements of our Harmony family.

Let's begin with a round of applause for the 13 brilliant students from our district who have been honored by the College Board's National Recognition Program. This acknowledgment shines a light on those who excel academically while representing underrepresented groups. Our stars this year come from:



• Harmony Science Academy-San Antonio
• Harmony School of Excellence-Laredo
• Harmony School of Innovation-Brownsville

These students have showcased exceptional dedication and resilience, achieving high honors as African American, Hispanic, and first-generation college students. To our students, their families, and everyone who plays a part in their education: your hard work is inspiring!

We are also proud to report that 12 outstanding scholars from the South Texas District scored perfectly on the 2024 STAAR test, demonstrating their commitment and the effectiveness of our educational programs.

Additionally, the Class of 2024 is setting high standards in career and technical education, significantly surpassing the state average with 70% of seniors qualifying as CTE Completers.

This season also brings great news for our hardworking teachers. Over 100 educators from our district are set to receive bonus incentives through the Texas Education Agency's Teacher Incentive Allotment program. This fall, accolades have been awarded for Master, Exemplary, and Recognized teaching levels:



• 21 teachers achieved Master,
• 49 achieved Exemplary,
• 47 achieved Recognized.

These designations come with well-deserved salary boosts, rewarding our teachers for their tireless efforts and passion for education. It’s a clear indicator of the quality and commitment that define teaching at Harmony.

Every achievement reflects your support, dedication, and the strong community spirit that propels us forward. As we embark on this academic year, let's continue to support each other, celebrate every milestone, and build on our shared successes.

HSA-San Antonio - Student Shines in Creative IQ Internship

Harmony Science Academy celebrates Zoraya G., who has advanced from an intern to a personal assistant at Creative IQ, a digital marketing agency in San Antonio. Zoraya’s passion for videography and photography helped her excel in her role, taking on responsibilities in digital marketing, content creation, and videography. This opportunity was made possible through Harmony Public Schools' partnership with Creative IQ, facilitated by our Public Relations Director, Tiffany Flores. This collaboration highlights Harmony’s commitment to providing students with real-world experiences that prepare them for successful careers.

HSI-San Antonio - After-School Clubs: Sports, Academics, and Creativity in Full Swing

Harmony School of Innovation is excited to kick off its after-school clubs! This year, HSI introduces flag football and volleyball for boys and girls in grades 6-9. Students can also join academic clubs like Math Kangaroos, Lego Robotics, and the new Drone Club, or explore curricular clubs like Arts and Crafts and Gardening. HSE-San Antonio - Welcome to a Year of Growth and Discovery in Pre-K!

Harmony School of Excellence is excited to welcome everyone to a fantastic new school year in Pre-K! The staff has enjoyed these first weeks with the little ones, exploring new concepts and building friendships through fun, confidence-boosting activities.

HSS-San Antonio - Announcing the 2024-2025 Athletics Program!

Harmony School of Science has introduced their athletics program for the 2024-2025 school year, featuring a variety of sports designed to keep students active and engaged. Offerings include flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, cross country, and track & field for grades 4-8. These sports provide students with a great opportunity to develop skills, stay fit, and build friendships. All students are encouraged to participate, regardless of experience. HSE-Laredo - Cross Country Team Shines at Latest Meet

Harmony School of Excellence has announced the outstanding results from the latest cross country meet, where our athletes demonstrated incredible determination and sportsmanship. Highlights include Rebecca G. taking 1st place in the 9th Grade Girls Race, and the Varsity Boys team securing 2nd place overall, with individual top finishes by Juan L. (8th), Santiago H. (9th), Michael R. (11th), and Alejandro C. (12th). The Varsity Girls team earned 3rd place overall, with strong performances by Janelle P. (13th), Gladys E. (16th), and Allison O. (20th). Congratulations to all our runners for their hard work and dedication! We look forward to the next meet. Keep up the fantastic work, team!

HSA-Laredo - Harmony Science Academy Takes a Page from Harry Potter with 'House'-Based Student Communities

Harmony Science Academy, is excited to introduce a new House System designed to enhance school spirit, community, and positive behavior. This initiative groups students, teachers, and staff into six houses, fostering a strong sense of belonging while promoting academic excellence and core values.

Each house is thoughtfully named to reflect the core values that Harmony Science Academy-Laredo strives to instill in its students. Self-Discipline (Green) represents the ability to manage oneself and work towards long-term goals; Open-Mindedness (Yellow) emphasizes the importance of embracing diverse perspectives; Accountability (Navy Blue) highlights the responsibility one has towards their actions and commitments; Respect (Red) signifies the regard and consideration for others; Integrity (Purple) underscores honesty and strong moral principles; and No Place for Hate (Light Blue) reflects the school’s dedication to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students. The colors and symbols associated with each house were chosen to embody the essence of these values, making them both memorable and meaningful.

HSI-Brownsville - City Recognition: Harmony School of Innovation-Brownsville Celebrates National School of Character Award

Harmony School of Innovation was recognized by the City of Brownsville for its outstanding commitment to character education and STEM-focused learning. Specifically, the school received the title of "National School of Character" from Character.org, which highlights its dedication to fostering strong core values through its Wildcat P.R.I.D.E. program. This recognition is an acknowledgment of the school’s efforts to create a positive and thriving educational environment.
