The Wayuu Taya Foundation is thrilled to announce its partnership with Music Heals International (MHI) to empower children through the transformative power of music. Under the Music Unites Us, guiding principle, this alliance aims to impact over 300 children lives in the Guajira Subregion through the Fiore Rhythm of Creativity Project.

The Fiore Rhythm of Creativity Project, led by the Wayuu Taya Foundation and made possible thanks to the Giustra International Foundation and CORE, is an educational platform that combines various artistic and cultural expressions. It helps provide hundreds of children in the Guajira Subregion with opportunities for growth, self-expression, and empowerment. Through this partnership, Music Heals International will join forces with Wayuu Taya to support and enrich the lives of the children.

The partnership will unfold in stages, each designed to foster the educational and transformative power of music. In the initial phase, Music Heals International will donate funds to purchase musical instruments to bolster the Nucleo Wayuu Taya of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs in Venezuela.

The Núcleo Wayuu Taya from El Sistema, which has become the principal project of the Wayuu Taya Foundation is a music-education program, founded in Venezuela in 1975 by Venezuelan educator, musician, and activist José Antonio Abreu aligning the work with the core values of social justice, inclusion, and human development.

Through the initial partnership involving instrument donation, MHI and WTF will explore other potential areas for collaboration that include online and possibly in-person teacher training, leadership development, and other areas of programming. These collaborative efforts are intended to benefit the children in Mara.

Patricia Velasquez, President of Wayuu Taya, expressed her excitement about the alliance, emphasizing the shared commitment to promoting music education as a catalyst for societal transformation and community empowerment. She believes that through this partnership, Wayuu Taya and Music Heals International will continue to promote creativity, art, and culture, ensuring a brighter future for children.

Sara Wasserman, Founder and Director of Music Heals International, believes that music has the power to inspire, heal, and empower individuals. She looks forward to exploring this opportunity and its potential to extend the reach of music education and its profound impact on the lives of Wayuu children in Venezuela.

Through collaborative efforts, the foundations seek to expand the horizons of creativity, art, and culture for children, enabling them to thrive and create a brighter future.
