As we wrap up Women’s History Month, let’s remember that achieving gender equity is a 365 day a year effort. We are asking you, our community, to continue to encourage others to inspire inclusion.
To get you started, here are four simple and effective ways:
- In the meeting, rotate the note-taking responsibilities, even if she is the only one who volunteers to take them;
- On the zoom, let her finish her point, without interrupting her or restating it as your own;
- In the classroom, call on her to answer the question that you know she knows, even if her hand is not the highest raised;
- In the home, do more than “help” —share — in the household and childcare responsibilities, even if she doesn’t ask you to do so.
Being inclusive means acting inclusively. It is why we created the Rutgers Center for Women in Business (CWIB). It is why we developed G.A.M.E.®, our male allyship program. It is why we curate groundbreaking research and develop insights that will make the workplace work for everyone.
How are you inspiring inclusion?
