Welcome to the Holistic Child Health Newsletter.

 

The goal of my holistic pediatric practice, and of this newsletter, is to inform and support parents to become more empowered as the primary health care providers for their children. Extending far beyond Western medicine's conventional treatments, holistic medicine and mindful parenting allow us to boost children's natural immunity, support their optimum health and wellness, safely heal any illnesses, and prevent disease-without dangerous side effects.  Holistic medicine provides us with the tools to nurture the physical, emotional, social and spiritual health of your children.

 

Over the coming months and years, I intend to use this newsletter to address some of your concerns as parents, share information that you might want to add to your knowledge base, and inform you of important issues and current events that are happening in the news, and in your area.

 

Together we can heal the whole child. Naturally.

I don't know Paul Offit. I've never met him, never had a conversation with him, and can't say I know what makes this man tick. I certainly don't model myself after him, nor would I seek him out as a mentor or a teacher. 

I know, from a professional perspective, that I don't agree with most of what he says. I no longer believe in most of what he stands for. And, I don't necessarily trust his motives or intentions, but I, in no way, wish this man harm, or want to disparage him as a person. 

All I can do is see someone like him, watch the way he operates and maneuvers himself in the world, and know, deep within myself, that it's not the way I want to be in the world. I don't see any reason to hate him. All I see is a reason to continue to bring the truth to my personal and professional life, and not use any of my emotional energy to slander him. 

If we want to see and experience the opposite of what Paul Offit brings to the table, we are much more powerful if we embody the change we want to see in the world, rather than using our energies to attack him. If there's only one person in the boxing ring, there really isn't a fight to be had. He thrives on our hate, venom, and reaction to him and his views, and that propels him to venture forth with more of his ideas and plans. Nothing, so far, seems to deter him, and he only feeds on the nastiness coming his way.

One cautionary comment, however: Never turn your back, or fall asleep, on the likes of what people like Paul Offit can do to your freedom, your health, or your life. You will be sorry, if you do. 

If you want to put your energies to good use, get involved locally, and in your state. Write to your assembly persons, and your state senators and representatives, and let them know how you feel about the continuing onslaught of legislation that is about to take away almost every possible exemption, and every right you have, to make health choices for you and your children. 

Be in touch with NVICadvocacy.org and start making more noise. From what I am seeing in my practice on a daily basis, I am not, I repeat, I am not, being histrionic or dramatic. The tides-they-are-achangin' and I am warning you not to be caught asleep at the wheel.

Without getting involved, without standing up for your rights, and without being proactive, this man will continue to singlehandedly lead the charge to annihilate all vaccine exemptions, and all rights you may have to make health choices for your children. 

If you don't believe me, if you take the perspective, 'not in my back yard' (NIMBY), this will never happen to us, oh, this could never happen in the US and, instead, continue to sit back and voice your opinions about this man, and then retreat back to your lives, one day, you'll turn around, and you won't know what hit you. 

By design, we are being made to believe that being American is about scurrying around with our families, busying ourselves with activity after activity, consuming and more consuming, success seeking after success seeking, and with media distracting us with the Kardashians and the Lohans, etc, to shield our attention from the truth, and keep us from really seeing what is going on around us. Slow down, take a look. Take a good, long, hard look, and pay closer attention, before it's too late. Don't believe you are helpless. Don't just stand there, do something. 

After all is said and done, and when the gauntlet comes down, you'll say, 'wow, how did that happen? I didn't see that coming,' when you will no longer have the choices you believe you should have under the Constitution. It's not enough to have an opinion about this man, and then simply do nothing to combat what he, and his supporters are about to do in this country, with all the corporate and government backing to bring these plans to fruition. 

As long as we sit silent, as long as we refrain from bombarding our legislators with letters, phone calls, and strength, he'll walk all over us, just like any other oppressor or dictator has done throughout history. 

Right now, today, in 2014, this poem is more pertinent, than it has been since the 1940's:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me.

First it was 1984. Now it's the Hunger Games.........

No more hate. No more vitriol. No more judgment about this man. What we need is mass action to stand up, be heard, and be counted. Otherwise, the rug will be pulled out from everyone, and your voices, and your rights, and your children's rights, will be forgotten........

Dr Palevsky's Comments: Autism is not, and has never been, a genetic disorder. Nutrition and environmental medicine have never been part of the core curriculum of conventional medicine. Yet, those practitioners and parents who continue to work and live with children with autism see how deeply food reactions and exposures to different environmental toxins affect the deterioration and/or improvement in the health of these children. The understanding of food and the environment, and their impact on the health of the body, remains elusive to the teaching and practice of conventional medicine, as does the understanding of toxic load, and decreased resilience and capacity to tolerate one's environment. We can't keep overloading our children with stressors and expect that their bodies are going to be capable of maintaining balance and homeostasis. Any person's genetics is capable of developing some form of chronic debilitating disorder if the right forces impact them enough to overload their systems, and push them past the threshold that helps them maintain a balanced response to their environments.

Sadly, thimerosal is still in the vaccines. A pediatric colleague of mine had them assayed recently, and every one of them (DaPT, Hep B, HIB) still contained thimerosal. Thimerosal is still used in the vaccine manufacturing process, but because there is, in the manufacturer's minds, only 'trace' thimerosal, it doesn't make it to the final package insert, any longer. Trace thimerosal was listed in the package inserts of the first set of vaccines manufactured in the early 2000's, after thimerosal was supposedly removed. Somehow, the 'trace thimerosal' just disappeared from the vaccine package inserts, over the past 10 years, and now the public is made to believe that the vaccines no longer contain thimerosal, except for the obvious thimerosal in most of the flu vaccines. 

The quantity of aluminum in vaccines was increased once the thimerosal was 'taken out' of the vaccines. Now, mercury and aluminum together, can be injected into our children, presenting them with a more toxic chemistry, than if thimerosal or aluminum were injected, alone. Can we continue to use the thimerosal issue in vaccines as a point of debate? Absolutely. The number of children with neuro-developmental disabilities continues to increase. If any physician feels emboldened to shout out loud that thimerosal is no longer in the vaccines, ask him/her to send any one of the childhood vaccines to the lab for a heavy metal assay, and see how he/she walks away with his/her tail between his/her legs once the results come back. 

But, the CDC, AAP, FDA, and vaccine manufacturers all say that thimerosal is no longer in the vaccines. C'mon, people!!!!

ABOUT DR PALEVSKY

Dr. Palevsky is a board certified pediatrician who utilizes a holistic approach in his work with children and families. 

 

Dr. Palevsky received his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine in 1987, completed a 3-year pediatric residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and enrolled in a 1-year fellowship training program in the out-patient department at Bellevue Hospital/NYU School of Medicine. 

 

Since 1991, his clinical experience has included working in pediatric emergency medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx, NY, serving as the Chief of the Pediatric Acute Care Unit at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC, and working in in-patient and out-patient pediatric medicine, neonatal intensive care medicine, and newborn and delivery room medicine. 

 

Dr. Palevsky has also worked in a conventional, holistic and integrative pediatric practice at the NYC Beth Israel Center for Health & Healing- an integrative and complementary care medical facility.

Currently, he runs his own holistic pediatric practice in Northport, NY and Manhattan. Dr. Palevsky teaches holistic integrative pediatric & adolescent medicine to parents, and medical and allied health professionals, both nationally & internationally. 

 

Dr. Palevsky is a former Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Past-President of the American Holistic Medical Association, and a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABIHM).
