It's the start of summer with school break on the way and sunny days ahead! We've got lots of action-packed fun happening this month, including a wide variety of summer camps and family friendly events. The Fallon Park Pool will be opening soon (stay tuned for more info via social media), and we've got lots of free activities at Washington Park while the new pool there is under construction (details below). Also new this June, we've teamed up with the Roanoke Diversity Center to offer a Queer Adventure Club series for Pride Month, but we'll also be offering activities throughout the summer. SUMMER FUN!

PLAY Roanoke is thrilled to offer FREE Summer Fun at Washington Park again this year!

Beginning June 17, visitors to upper Washington Park can experience inflatables every weekday afternoon, along with a range of pop-up recreation activities throughout the summer. Additionally, every Friday will feature a DJ and food. Stay tuned to social media for the latest updates!

CELEBRATE PRIDE MONTH WITH THE QAC

Celebrate Pride Month with the Queer Adventure Club (QAC), a new adventure series in partnership with the Roanoke Diversity Center! This June, we'll be offering a biking Ride & Dine on the New River Trail, Wild Caving, and Hangout on Mill Mountain + Tie Dye! JOGAR FUTEBOL

Sign up for Brazilian Soccer Camp this summer, and learn from expert coaches. The program emphasizes individually tailored approaches, fostering a positive, safe and enjoyable learning environment.

Participants gain fun and memorable experiences, enjoying freestyle sessions and cultural exposure in a meticulously organized camp rooted in Beyond Soccer philosophy and Brazilian flair.

CELEBRATE WITH US!

Please join us for the celebratory ribbon-cutting event marking the grand opening of the latest section of the Tinker Creek Greenway, connecting Mason Mill Park to the 13th Street NE Trailhead.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, we invite you to partake in a group walk along the newly unveiled greenway, spanning approximately 0.6 miles to Mason Mill Park. Traverse the impressive pedestrian bridge, see the ADA fishing pier, blueway access points, and updated maps along the route.

SLAM DUNK!

If you love basketball, this is the event to attend! This program is being offered by Roanoke Parks and Recreation and the Roanoke Police Department.

Every Thursday from June 13 to August 8 at Horton Park we will have FREE pickup basketball games for ages 13 to 18. There will also be music, speakers, food, games, and prizes!

Experience the essence of summer with PLAY Roanoke's FREEDOM FESTIVAL!

Join us at River's Edge Park South on July 5 for a delightful summer evening filled with complimentary family-friendly events and music provided by 5 Points Music Sanctuary. Enjoy a variety of food trucks, and the beer garden with refreshments available for purchase. Bring the whole family along and witness the spectacular fireworks show.

FALL YOUTH ATHLETICS

Registration is now open for fall youth athletics with our volunteer recreation club partners. There's plenty of options to get your kid active this fall, including Cheerleading, Football and Soccer.

These programs are a great opportunity for your child to be a part of a team, stay active, make friends, and develop important life skills!

JOIN ROANOKE'S BEST KICKBALL LEAGUE!

There's still time to register your team for Roanoke’s adult kickball league.

Rules are similar to both baseball and softball with a maximum of 11 players on the field. Teams are guaranteed nine games (eight regular season games and one postseason tournament game). Space is limited, so register today to reserve your team’s spot! This will be a great and fun way to enjoy summer nights with your friends in active environment.

Are you a nature lover with a camera glued to your hip? Well, this program is for you!

Join the awesome crew of photo gurus in this outdoor photography series. From snapping pics on your phone to rocking a fancy DSLR, this workshop will boost your photo game in any setting.

Once the tech talk is over, we'll hit the great outdoors to practice what we've learned. Let the adventures begin! 📸
