Happy New Year from our

CEO, Indy Frazee, and The IC!

Greetings and Happy New Year!

As we bid farewell to 2023, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead in the coming year. December was a whirlwind month, and while the cold and snowy weather encouraged a slower pace for many, here at The IC, we were busy wrapping up the year with a sense of accomplishment and celebration.

Looking back, 2023 was a year marked by incredible progress and positive impact. Our Home Health program touched the lives of 230 individuals, while our Veteran Directed Care program extended its support to 208 veterans. The Independent Living staff welcomed 307 consumers, and processed more than 1,700 Intake & Referrals, showcasing our commitment to providing essential services to our community.

I am thrilled to share that, in late December, The IC was once again recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Colorado Springs by the Gazette. This achievement is not just a reflection of our success but a celebration of the collective efforts, dedication, and spirit that define our exceptional IC team.

As we enter 2024, we are eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities this upcoming year is sure to bring. I want to express my deepest gratitude for your continued support as we strive to build a community where EVERYONE is Known, Valued, and Included.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with joy, success, and meaningful connections!

In Gratitude,

Dr. Martin Luther King and the Movement for Disability Justice

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all Americans can reflect on the movement for civil rights in the United States and its achievements as well as its unrealized aims and goals. For the disability community, Dr. King’s life and work can serve as both an inspiration and a cautionary tale.

The fight for Black equality is still unfinished, but through the bravery of countless people throughout the last century, our country has come closer to Dr. King’s dream. Similarly, the fight for equality for people with disabilities and a world where everyone can be known, valued, and included continues.

As we embark on a new year, we pause to reflect on the values of justice, equality, and unity that have shaped our nation.

The IC is proud to sponsor Roundup Fellowship's screening of

"Being Michelle"

On February 7, you can watch the award-winning story of a Deaf and disabled woman who survived incarceration under unimaginable circumstances and see a powerful story of endurance and healing.

Roundup Fellowship is a Colorado organization that has served people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for decades, and The IC is excited to sponsor this fundraiser film screening and panel discussion on February 7.

Being Michelle follows the astounding journey of Michelle, a woman who is deaf, has autism, and survived incarceration under unimaginable circumstances in a system that refused to accommodate her needs. The film is about the bonds between women committed to thriving in a broken system, who are forging a path to healing that can only come through facing the truth and communicating it together.

The screening is at Picture Show at Citadel Crossing (901 N. Academy Blvd.) and begins at 5:30 PM.

After the film, Michelle and the film's director Atin Mehra will be part of a panel discussion with other community partners, including The IC's CEO, Indy Frazee. There will also be a silent auction following the event, with the opportunity to purchase one of Michelle's paintings.
