And, our February Webinar will have a speaker who has been seen on national news regarding the drug crisis facing us at the southern border. Mr. Derek Maltz. Derek previously served as a Senior Executive in Federal Law Enforcement as the Director of the Special Operations Division (SOD), United States Department of Justice (DOJ). As a former DEA special agent he has seen firsthand the causes of our fentanyl crisis in the USA as well as the human trafficking at our borders. As he
says, “This is not a red issue or a blue issue, it is a Red, White and Blue issue impacting America. We need to do all we can to stop it”. He is very passionate about this subject and has blessed us to hear from such a knowledgeable source.

RECOVERY MINISTRY
1 Corinthians 1:26 God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise. God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong. (Note: God uses broken people.)
Fact:One of every three people are alcoholics/addicts or a relative or friend of an alcoholic/addict.
Bill Wilson, the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), found sobriety through the help of Father Samuel Shoemaker and Calvary Episcopal Church Rescue Mission in New York City. The Oxford Group method of honesty, conversion, fellowship, and witness employed by Father Shoemaker was not only the start of
Wilson’s recovery, but the inspiration for the 12 Steps of AA.
Father Shoemaker’s Prayer
God forgive our blindness and laziness and complacency, and through these re-made people of Alcoholics Anonymous help us learn our need for honesty, for conversion, for fellowship, and for honest witness.
Amen
Brother Lee Wright, Christ Church, Pensacola, Florida;
VP BStA Recovery Ministry

Treasurer News
New for 2023, The Finance Committee unanimously agreed to include a Treasurer's Report in the monthly Cross Newsletter. Starting in February, the Treasurer's Report will provide a summary of Year to Date activities. Bear in mind the report will lag the current month's results when sent for printing.
The monthly report will include the starting cash balances for the period YTD, the income and expenses at the beginning and end of the period, closing cash balances, and a projection of planned upcoming expenses in the near future.
We will also inform you of the health of our budget. One of the subtle nuances accepted by the Finance Committee was to remain completely transparent in reporting as accurately as possible the Brotherhood’s revenues and expenses incurred during the 2023 fiscal year. Reporting new members and chapters will also be highlighted. We will also include a Summary Cash Flow Statement. So, be on the lookout as we develop our report to bring to you, our beloved community.
Cecil Buxo
National Treasurer
Chairman, Finance Committee

From the Director's Desk
Happy New Year!
We are knee-deep in Annual Chapter Reports and membership pledges being received at the National Office. THANK YOU for your faithfulness in the financial support of our mutual ministry efforts.
Every webinar, e-newsletter, CROSS magazine (both digital and print), supply order fulfillment and another office administrative activity, our web presence, in-person workshops, addresses/presentations to diocesan, provincial and national gatherings within the larger church and networking at the various meetings of such organizations are possible because of pledges. Directly and indirectly, the return on these efforts yielded over a dozen new or rechartered chapters in 2022 and over 270 new members. Evangelism matters. Thank you for yours!
Take a cruise around our new website if you haven’t already done so.
Thanks for your patience as it was brought online. It’s the best single source we have available to aid in your efforts.
Webinars are there to share at chapter meetings. Resources abound throughout the website. Share it with your clergy.
Our office is here to serve you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at either our phone numbers or by email. I close by wishing you all the blessings Epiphany brings.
