Happy New Year to all of our Friedman, Kannenberg & Company clients. As most of you now know, a few weeks ago Congress passed a sweeping change in our tax laws called the "Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017". While these new laws didn't take effect until January 1st of this year, we've received many client inquiries about how this new act will affect you.
The new act is complex and affects both businesses and individuals. The lowering of tax brackets coupled with the elimination of many longstanding deductions, makes it virtually impossible to draw concluding commentary for "all" clients, as each client tax circumstance is different.
We've been doing some extensive education and training on the new law here at FKCo, and will begin to address its impact on you during the preparation of your 2017 tax return. If you have specific questions about the new law, make sure to ask your tax return preparer at that time.
But remember...things may change this year, both in your particular tax circumstances, as well as with amendments and clarifications of the new law. We will keep you abreast of those changes, and suggest you contact us in the later part of the year if there are any changes in your personal tax picture.
We here at FKCo look forward to servicing your accounting and tax needs during the upcoming tax season. We encourage you to call us if you have any questions or concerns, and we wish each and every one of you a happy, healthy & prosperous New Year.
With warm regards,
Alan & Don
