FROM Rabbi Barry Silver & "FRIENDS OF THE EVERGLADES" organization:
The worst environmental bill approved by the Florida Legislature in 2023 has just been transmitted (CLICK HERE to view the bill) to Gov. DeSantis’ desk. We need your help convincing him to VETO IT! If signed into law, SB 540 would pose serious threats to the Everglades. This is bad for the future of Florida, bad for the Everglades, and bad for water and wildlife.
Ask Gov. DeSantis to VETO SB 540.

SOUSA MENDES FOUNDATION presents the following programming:
THE ESSENTIAL LINK: WILFRED ISRAEL -- HOLOCAUST HERO
Sunday, MAY 21 at 2:00 pm ET
Virtual, Tickets by donation ($18 suggested); Registration required
Wilfrid Israel was German Jewry’s “secret ambassador” to England from 1938-43. Time and again, he had opportunities to remain safe in England or Palestine, and yet he kept going back to Germany to rescue Jews. On his last rescue mission, Wilfrid Israel was shot down by the Wehrmacht over the English channel. Albert Einstein said of the businessman, “Never in my life have I come in contact with a being so noble, so strong and as selfless as Wilfrid Israel.” A fascinating and multilayered life!

"WE MUST SAVE THE CHILDREN", a new story from Lille, France
Sunday, JUNE 4 at 2:00 pm ET
Virtual, Tickets by donation ($18 suggested); Registration required
In 1942, a spontaneous rescue action occurred in Lille, France. When the Jews of Lille were arrested and brought to the railyard for deportation, the rail workers created an instant rescue network right under the noses of the Nazi guards. A new film tells that remarkable story for the first time.

Something that RABBI SAM SILVER
(our beloved founding rabbi)
would share each Mother's Day:
"M" is for the millions of things a mother does.
"O" is for the other things a mother does.
"T" is for the thousands of things a mother does.
"H" is for the hundreds of things a mother does.
"E" is for everything a mother does.
"R" is for the rest of the things a mother does.
Put them all together and they spell "SLAVE"!
