As I was doing visual research for a documentary film on Gustav Mahler's 8th Symphony directed by film maker, Jason Starr, I began to look more deeply into the visual artists alive during Mahler's life. I knew works of Gustav Klimt, but I was unaware of all the garden cat paintings inspired by Klimt's style. Apparently there were at least ten cats who regularly roamed about in his studio.
