The end of the harvest & the Year of the Dog will be celebrated with three days of celebrations this April. 

Just in time for the happy occasion, the children at the Kiriminoen Primary school got a wonderful gift of new monkey bars and swings. Their glee and happy smiles say a big Thank You to our wonderful CCDO UK donors.

Fashion Show & Cricket Fundraisers

We are so excited for the first visit in June of our young supporters from The Atlas Club at Riverside High School in South Carolina. With great energy and creativity they have been raising funds for their upcoming trip to Siem Reap to visit our schools. They had a roaring success with a fashion show with over $2,000 raised. PLUS their cricket team presented a $1,500 check to their CCDO cause. They will decide how they spend their funds, once they arrive in Siem Reap and experience first hand the conditions in the classrooms. Previously, they helped furnish our computer lab.

Our Piglet Initiative Grows

… and so does Hamilton, the pig that started it all. Tabi’s 4-H show pig is now 160 lbs. and continues to garner interest and donations. The latest donation of $500 from our longtime donor Louise Hu from Hong Kong will provide 10 more piglets for new entrepreneurial village families.  Join us in supporting Piggy Heaven .

Earth Day 2018

On April 22 we will again celebrate World Earth Day. Leading towards the day our fabulous team is modeling clean up activities to inspire our neighbors around our office area. It is a real challenge to keep the family compounds and villages clean without running water, government trash collection or a public sewer. But we are quite impressed and proud of our villagers setting a standard for others in the wider community. In fact we are so happy with their achievements we are moving our Clean Village initiatives to the neighboring Angkor Thom community.

Volunteers & Staff

We said goodbye to our Canadian volunteer Margot Beauchamp who has been instrumental in our important grant writing program. She has seen first hand wonderful new initiatives and we are lucky that she will continue working with us remotely from Vancouver. Hello to volunteer Phebe Depoortere from Belgium. She will be working with our English teachers and Education department and helping Eli with our expanding Piglet program.

Thanks to Nuria Avila from Spain and her technical skills we now have a detailed Google map showing where all our wells, latrines, piglets, gardens, schools and everything of importance is located.

Bernie Menezes from Portugal, continues to expand the compost management and lends a hand for surveys in our WASH department.

Our New WASH Coordinator

We are excited to announce the choice of our new WASH Coordinator :

Meas Sothy has more than 15 years experience working for NGOs in Cambodia. He started with Child Protection and found his niche with Health & Hygiene in the WASH sector.

Visitors

Mary Mendoza of Platinum Ltd in Macau so enjoyed her recent first visit to CCDO projects in Cambodia, she returned with a load full of gifts such as computers, clothes and sports equipment. The kids and the staff were very excited to see her again! She is a true CCDO Ambassador.
