Words from the CEO

It is an exciting time at Avondale House!  Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, 2021 was a productive year. While timelines were initially delayed on some of our growth plans, we made some great strides toward accomplishing our goals.

We began our search for new houses to support the growth of our residential program. We are currently in the process of completing the purchase of one home and are searching for one additional house. I anticipate that in 2022, we will be able to welcome new residents into our program and nearly double the number of individuals we are currently supporting in that program.

Of course, with the growth of the residential program comes the need for additional day habilitation space. As we are currently at capacity at our O’Meara Drive location, we are diligently working to identify some additional space to house our expansion and open that program up to more individuals.

Lastly, in August, we made a strategic investment in our future by purchasing some additional land behind our main O’Meara Drive facility adjacent to the land we already own. Over the next year or so, we will be developing plans for how to best utilize this nearly 3 acres of land to support our program growth.

Of course, there could be no thought of growing our programs if it wasn’t for our many supporters who make our work possible each and every day. It is this support that is directly tied to continuing our services into the future so that we can assist more individuals living with autism reach their fullest potential. We hope you will consider making a charitable donation to Avondale House.

Houston Marathon Avondale House Hoopla Station
January 16, 2022
6:15 am – 10:00 am

We need volunteers to help with managing our hoopla station! Each year, Avondale House is given a hoopla station to serve as a “pit stop” for any Team AH runners wanting to come say hi and for their family and friends to cheer and support them. Avondale House brings drinks, snacks, and cheering props (clappers, pom-poms, etc). What we need your help with is setting up the station, taking pictures, and cheering on the runners!
