Our Makerspace is a vibrant community hub dedicated to creating, crafting, collaborating and trying new things – for all ages. This month, we are introducing a few new programs, in addition to our regularly scheduled events!


Digital Tools Drop-In

FRI 10:30am -12:30pm

Get help with 3D printing, laser and Cricut projects during this Friday morning program.


Open Textile Lab

THU SEP 12, 6pm

Drop in to use Makerspace tools to create, repair, customize and more with textiles and fabric.


Adult Makers: Contemporary Immigrant Narratives in Art

WED SEP 18, 6pm

Art workshop focusing on how artists create an inclusive space by sharing immigrant stories through contemporary art. A Welcoming Week program.


Repair Advice with Fixit Clinic

FRI SEP 27, 10:30am -12:30pm

Volunteer Fixit Coaches will be in the Makerspace to help you informally troubleshoot broken items.

Meet Your Neighbors aims to connect and plant seeds of friendship, understanding, and acceptance between individuals to foster a welcoming community for all. Neighbors come from all over the world, and each has a unique story to share


Fiestas Patrias

SUN SEP 15, 3-8pm, Courthouse Square

Courthouse Square will be transformed into a festive, beautiful and fun setting in celebration of this important patriotic holiday in the Mexican culture.

CITY CORNER

Seeking Community Input: Next Fire Chief


After a distinguished 33-year career in the fire service profession, Ray Iverson, Fire Chief of the Redwood City Fire Department, serving the communities of Redwood City and San Carlos, announced his retirement on August 8, 2024. City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz is seeking community input on the experience and characteristics needed in the next Fire Chief. 

 

Community members can provide input in a number of ways. 

  • Community Survey: available online or on paper by visiting any City facility. The survey is available in English and Spanish.
  • Community Event: visit the City booth at Fiestas Patrias on September 15 @ 3pm at Courthouse Square
  • Email us! Share your input by sending a message to FireChiefRecruitment@RedwoodCity.org

Tenant-Landlord Information and Resources


Project Sentinel is holding a FREE workshop on September 24 at 5pm for community members to learn more about the local and state rules governing tenant/landlord issues. Topics include:


  • Statewide and local tenant protections in place
  • Tenant/landlord rules and responsibilities
  • Redwood City Ordinances

Colibrí Rojo @ Redwood Shores


Colibrí Rojo will perform at Redwood Shores Branch Library on Saturday, September 21 at 11am. Colibrí Rojo is a collective effort aimed at reinforcing the cultural identity of children, youth, and families within our community through the exploration of Mexican traditional music and dance.
