A number of years back when Brock was in Junction 56 (a 5th and 6th grade church program), Pastor Joe Harms introduced this coin as a remembrance and marker of transitioning from that of a boy to becoming a young man.  I've used this coin with both Brock and Jacob and had a personal right of passage ceremony with each of them.  Both boys carry their coin with them often.  I've also given this coin to a few young men that I have had the privilege to disciple and mentor over the years.  This coin has meant a lot to them.

I recently had breakfast with one of those men.  He told me that he keeps this coin in his wallet and looks at it often.  It reminds him of who he is and his responsibility as a Real Man and more importantly a Man of God.  Many of his friends are in awe of the coin and wish that their fathers had given them one.

As we remember our Dads on Father's Day, remember that everything a Dad does duplicates in his children, good or bad.  Pause for a moment and think about what you are duplicating. Remember, the apple does not fall far from the tree.
