MHS STUDENTS

This is your official invite to this year's Homecoming Dance! It will be better than ever - with a fun theme, new DJ, and fantastic students! Please see the attached invite, pick up your dance permission form in the office (you will need it signed by a parent/guardian and yourself) and purchase a ticket during lunches this week and next! If you'd like to bring a guest from another school, you can get your guest pass in the office. (They will need to be turned in to the office by Wednesday 9/27).

We're looking forward to a fun and starry night together!

P.S. This year's ticket price has risen due to rising DJ costs (and our previous discounted DJ retiring) - but we still want everyone to come! It will be worth it! Please let Mrs. Clochesy or Mrs. Clemo (or another staff you're comfortable with) know if you could use some help with the ticket price.

Conferences will be on October 18th from 4-7 pm.

Stop in to talk to your student's teachers on their progress.

AND NOW A WORD FROM:

MRS. ANDERSON:

October has arrived! Happy Fall Y'all!

Congratulations to our Fall Sports Teams who are continuing to excel and push through until the end of the season! Shout Out to eSports who are starting strong with large numbers puting MHS on the map!

Thank you for a great Homecoming Week! It was great to see all the dress up days and participation from our students!

October 26th will be an early release day & October 27th there is no school for students.

Be on the lookout for upcoming events and activities for your students to earn their community service hours for school! Most will be posted in our daily announcements and in Canvas.

Every assignment, grade and assessment matters! The end of the term is Nov. 2nd and will be here before we know it! Please take a moment to look at your students' grades & classes to support their high school journey!

Remember that ATTENDANCE MATTERS! It is so important that your student is here each and every day.

MR. DRAHEIM:

Dear MHS Families!

Greetings from Marinette High School!

I hope the start of the school year has been good for everyone as we get closer to Fall!  I have a few reminders below that we will be discussing with students the first weeks of school.

First, we want to make sure that all students are staying current with their school work and getting assignments in on time.  Please check your student’s Canvas or Skyward for current grades.   We also want to remind you and all students to use our Anchor Hour as a time to get caught up or go in for extra help. As we get closer to cold and flu season and the possibility of students being out sick it’s important to get in those habits early.

Second, I wanted to remind all students/parents/guardians that it is so important to get a strong start to the school year with positive attendance.  Please help us by monitoring your student’s attendance and making sure they come to school every day, unless they are sick.  Checking a couple times a week is a great way to stay current with them in Canvas and/or Skyward.  If you need any help with this or log-in information, please call our High School Office for support.

Third, as a reminder, when students enter the building we are reducing the number of open doors around the building.  Starting this year, only door #20 in the back will be open for students.  Door 20 is also known as the pool doors.  The old “senior doors” will not be accessible before school.  When students are late in the morning, they can also use door 20 and be buzzed in and then report to the office for a late pass.  Just a reminder that the bell to begin first block is 7:50 am and if they come to school after that it will be logged as a tardy or a late in their attendance.  This will also count towards habitual truancy so it is very important that students arrive on time.  We will continue to open the front doors at 7:20 am so they are able to get breakfast if they choose and have time to eat in the commons before it’s time to get to class.

Finally, if you have a student who drives to school, please remind them they need to register for a parking permit every year.  When they fill out the form and get signatures, they will be issued a new parking pass.  Let’s continue to make this a great school year!  Go Marines!

Sincerely,

Matt Draheim

Assistant Principal
