READINGS FOR SUNDAY OF DIVINE MERCY
PRACTICE OF CHARITY
"Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." Do you believe easily, or do you sometimes doubt that God is with you?
- Ask for St. Thomas' intercession as you bring your concerns to God. Imagine yourself in the upper room, seeing the risen Jesus and receiving the peace he offers you.
- On the Second Sunday of Easter we also celebrate the Sunday of Divine Mercy. What do you know about this day? Read more at Divine Mercy Sunday | USCCB.
- Out of devotion to Christ and his Church early converts brought their material wealth to the apostles. Review you monthly household budget. Are you making a suitable financial contribution to your parish.
We are doing our best to continue to provide a safe space to worship for everyone. Click here to see current COVID safety measures.
Live Stream Mass is during the Sunday 9:00am Mass.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
This Sunday, April 7
| We will celebrate with a procession around the grounds between the Masses starting at 10:15am, then a potluck reception after the 11:00am Mass in the Social Hall. Please bring a dish to share as we celebrate the love that God has for mankind, despite our sins. | |
EUROPEAN EASTER BASKET BLESSING
In many Eastern European countries, it’s a tradition to have a basket of food blessed on Holy Saturday. We were blessed to share this cherished, Catholic, richly symbolic custom with all of you who participated.
Thank you to everyone who made an offering of Easter flowers in memory of a loved one. Your contributions in their honor help create the beautiful atmosphere in our church for the holiest season in the Liturgical calendar. See names
Thank you to our flower committee that worked hours arranging flowers. After the solemn period of Lent, Easter arrived with a burst of joy through the way you adorned the sanctuary.

Many people of our parish gave much time and talent to make our Easter Triduum a beautiful, prayerful experience. A word of heartfelt thanks goes out to all who brought life to these liturgies, especially:
- To all those who helped to decorate and create a beautiful liturgical environment, and those who scheduled our liturgical ministers.
- St. John Vianney Music Ministry led by Christina Bernal, Cantors, Choir, and Musicians
- Liturgical Ministers who served at our liturgies.
- To the family members who supported those who were received into the church.
- All those involved, parents and sponsors, in preparing our Elect and Candidate to receive sacraments during the Easter Vigil.
- Lynae Leptich and Jeannie DeSmet for hosting the Easter Vigil Reception.
- Fr. Vu Tran for his prayerful leadership.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES RICE BOWL |
Together, we changed lives this Lent through CRS Rice Bowl. THANK YOU for being a part of this effort!
Remember to turn in your CRS Rice Bowl monies. No need to return the bowl or the cash, just count your "sacrifices" and write a check for the amount to SJV and we will forward all the donations to CRS Rice Bowl OR donate the amount online using the button below.
Thank you for your Lenten Sacrifices - 25% of Rice Bowl donations stay in Western Washington to assist the poor in our neighborhood. As an example of what they do, SJV preschool recently received a grant from CRS Rice Bowl to start a vegetable garden in the former test garden in order to grow produce for the poor. The preschool is working with food resource agencies to make sure they are growing the best choices of vegetables for them to provide. It is all a circle of giving – thank you!

Greetings from Water Access Now board
- Water from Wine challenged us to sell 50 cases of Cab Sauv before June 1, 2024.
- If we do, they will donate an extra $15 per bottle…so a $30 (plus tax) bottle nets $50, ergo a $360 case nets us $600. This is a potential $30,000 equaling 3 wells.
- Go to wateraccessnow.org, click on blue top banner and purchase. Western WA, insert “delivery” into coupon box and we will deliver.

PARISH WIDE LISTENING SESSIONS
April 13 and 14 after all Masses
| |
St. John Vianney will be partnering with Holy Family Kirkland. All of Kirkland will be united under one parish - let us pray that we will be the “Light on Finn Hill” to all of Kirkland.
During our listening sessions, the staff noted that there was a misunderstanding of what is happening in the proposed grouping - SJV is not closing as a church or its ministries. The aligning as a family means that the parishioners of the two parishes will gather to determine how to use its combined resources - monetary, buildings, and staff.
Please visit archseattle.org/partners to review the Partners in the Gospel materials available to become more familiar with the overall mission of the Church, the goals of this effort, and the process we are undertaking so that you are well informed as we move forward over the next three years. Your participation helps determine what our parish partnership will look like. Be involved and support SJV and its ministries!
Upcoming Key Dates:
- April 6 & 7 - Pastors/Parochial Vicars announced.
- April 13 & 14 after all Masses - Parish Listening Sessions
We will be using the Synodal Listening method and will ponder the following:
- Share your top thought about the new Pastor and Parochial Vicar selections? What are your hopes and fears about this?
- What one thing do you want the new Pastor to know about SJV?
- July 2024 - Parish families begin under the leadership of one Pastor and a Parochial Vicar.
