A Talk with James Cline, Team Captain for One Mission
James Cline, a sophomore in high school, is the Captain of Team Shiny Clineys. His team has raised over $11,000 for kids with cancer this year with One Mission's Buzz Off at Gillette Stadium. The Team Shiny Clineys; Lori Costa-Cline (Mom), Jimmie Costa (uncle), Don Cline and himself worked to raise money for One Mission through bake sales, school raffles, etc. Anyone can create a One Mission team, and the team can be however big or small as you want it to be. Whether it's your close family or entire school, One Mission encourages teams to use "experimental ideas" and think outside the box to raise money.
One Mission is a charity that helps kids and their families fight cancer. Unlike other organizations, the profits are not allocated to research; instead, the money goes directly to families. These families can use the money however they choose, such as paying for hotel bills or having fun days at the hospital.
While it is interesting to see what team raises the most money each year, James stresses that it isn't a high stakes competition: "we're doing this for kids with cancer. " He said. The Shiny Clineys are currently in 7th place. Donations end September 30th, so please visit their donation page and donate!
James Cline first shaved his head at age 9 during the annual Buzz Off in Gillette Stadium, where those who decide to shave their heads spread awareness of One Mission's goal. At the time his aunt had developed breast cancer, and she has since passed. James says that he keeps doing this for her, and he and his team will indeed return next year. Congratulations Shiny Clineys, and good luck.

Adventure
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
“One final paragraph of advice: do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast....a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards.”
~ Edward Abbey
“Life is a blank canvas, and you need to throw all the paint on it you can.”
~ Danny Kaye
“Let us not become so cautious that we forget to live.”
~ Elizabeth Gilbert, City of Girls

Even the simplest of activities can be an adventure. Taking ourselves out of our regular routine is key. That's where we see things with new eyes, meet new people, and are challenged. An adventure wakes up our mind and opens our soul. Happy Adventuring, all! ~ Jacquie
