Happenings on the Hill

May 13, 2024

Want to submit something for HOTH? Send to icsonthehill@icsclinton.org by Wed. at 8:00 PM.

We are looking for several engineers and/or scientists to meet with our 7th grade students to discuss their Science Fair projects with them on Thursday, May 16th from 8:00 to 10:15 am. If you, a relative, or a friend of yours has a background in either science or engineering, please consider helping us out. You will meet with a few students, and they will explain their Science Fair project to you. You can ask them your own questions or use some of the questions that you will be sent ahead of time. It is meant to be a casual meeting for the students to receive feedback and encouragement from professionals in the field. You will not be required to judge the projects. Please contact Stacy Jones at sjones@icsclinton.org if you are interested. This is a great opportunity to earn those last-minute service hours.

We are so excited about all of the new families that will be joining our school community next year! We are looking for ICS parents who are willing to be buddy families to incoming new families for the 2024-25 school year. The ICS Buddy Program has been a very successful part of our Parent Ambassador Program in which every new family is matched with a current ICS family to welcome them to the school and be a resource to answer questions and help get the family oriented.

A Buddy Family should:

  • Be a current family at ICS who is a positive, enthusiastic advocate for the school. There is no expected length of enrollment. If you were new this year, you are more than welcome to be a buddy family for the coming school year. In fact, families who recently joined the school are most aware of the questions and needs of new families!
  • Be willing to share personal contact information (cell phone and email) with a new family.
  • Reach out to the family via email or phone once you are matched. Share your cell phone and be willing to stay in touch via emails, calls, texts to answer any questions as the school year approaches and throughout the year.
  • Be a first friend to the new family (efforts are made to match you with a new family who has children in the same grade as your child/ren).

We are making every effort to match buddy families now because we will host a Buddy Family Meet-Up during the Blue Knight Bash on Friday, May 31st as a chance to connect, should your schedules allow you to attend. We all know that community is one of the most wonderful aspects of our school. We encourage you to consider becoming a buddy family so that you can be a part of spreading the ICS spirit as we welcome new families.

If you are interested in serving as a Buddy Family, please sign up here.
