Larimore Award Finalists and Recipient

The Larimore Award is the highest honor bestowed annually on a Mars Hill senior. The award is based on outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements, exemplary Christian character, and exceptional school spirit via nominations, recommendation letters, and an interview process.


Congratulations to our 2024 Larimore Award finalists: Annie Hibbett, Emma Moore, Kalyn Robbins, Adara Carter, Dawson Derr, Caleb Heupel, and Jay Dobbs.

Senior Spotlights

Jackson Tingle has been a Panther since fifth grade. He has been involved in football, baseball, Student Council, National Honor Society, and been a class officer. "The best thing about Mars Hill is the Christian education," he says. "It's been a very special experience for me because of the amount of time, effort, and dedication the staff and community has put in to provide a wonderful environment." His favorite memory is of Wild West Day with Coach Williams, and his advice to current students is to enjoy the experience to the best of your ability. Jackson plans to attend the University of Alabama receiving Prestige and Boys' State Scholarships, with plans to major in finance.

Tyler Jarrett has been a Panther since eleventh grade. He played on the basketball team, and his favorite memory is of winning the first boys' basketball state championship in school history. "The best thing about Mars Hill is the sense of community," he says. "It has given me good memories and friends. Thank you to the teachers for investing in me." Tyler plans to attend Northwest Shoals Community College, where he will be learning and working in the FAME program.

Dawson Derr has been a Panther since preschool. He has been involved in chorus, soccer, National Honor Society, Student Council, All State Chorus, All State Soccer, show choir, and Ambassadors. "The best thing about Mars Hill is being surrounded by like minded Christians every day who share the same goal of reaching a heavenly home," he says. "I would like to thank my fellow students for their influence on my Christian walk and my teachers for helping raise me in truth and love." His favorite memory is of singing days in chapel every Thursday. Dawson has received merit based scholarships to attend Lipscomb University, with plans to major in business management and minor in biblical archaeology.

Aidan Kennedy has been a Panther since fifth grade. He has been involved in baseball and football. "Mars Hill is an easy place to make friends," he says. "It's a place to grow closer to God. To my teachers, thank you for everything." His favorite memory is of winning the football state championship his freshman year. Aidan has received a baseball scholarship to attend the University of Tennessee Southern, with plans to major in sports management.

Avery Burnley has been a Panther since kindergarten. She has been involved in cheer, soccer, show choir, and Larimore Service League. "I can say without hesitation that the best part of my Mars Hill experience has been the people I have had the privilege of being with over the years. I have met some of the most influential and important people in my life here, and that blessing means the world to me," she says. "For the past thirteen years, Mars Hill has been a home to me. I will always have a place in my heart for Mars Hill." Her favorite memories are of cheering in the football state championship her freshman year, playing in the soccer final four as a sophomore, and show choir camp and performances. Avery plans to attend Samford University majoring in Business Marketing.

Panther Accolades

Congratulations to Eli Jennings! After a rigorous audition process, he was selected to the Alabama All State Band.

Congratulations to Skyler Sterling! He signed a track scholarship to University of the Cumberlands.

Panther Playoffs

Track students are competing at state in Cullman this weekend. Go Panthers!

Panther baseball will play the third game in the third round of playoffs today at noon. Go Panthers!

Final Four bound! Panther Soccer will play in the semifinals next Wednesday at 3:00. Go Panthers!

Area Runner Up! Panther Softball will continue to regional play May 8-9 at the Florence Sportsplex. Go Panthers!

Sectional Winners! Panther Boys and Girls Golf Teams won the sectional tournament and advance to the next round. Go Panthers!

Panther Fishing advances to the state tournament on May 10 and 11. Go Panthers!

Awards Day 2024
