Seventh Sunday After Pentecost

Paraments color: Green

Scripture Readings for July 7, 2024

Jesus does great deeds of power and gives his disciples authority over demons. Yet none of this power is unilateral; it all must be received by faith. Jesus asks his disciples to go out without money or supplies, so that they will be dependent on how others receive them. When we are sent from the assembly to witness and to heal, we are asked to be vulnerable, to be dependent on the reception of others. The Spirit always operates in the “between”: between Jesus and his Abba, between Jesus and us, between you and me, between us and those to whom we are sent.

Ezekiel 2:1-5; Psalm 123; 2 Corinthians 12:2-10; Mark 6:1-13

From the Pastor's Desk

Grace and peace to you!

Last week we celebrated our church’s 132nd anniversary and all that God is doing in and through Hutto Lutheran Church.

This summer we have been asking the question what does it mean to be the church? What we do at Hutto Lutheran is absolutely a part of that story. What we can do as the larger church together is also part of that story.

At the end of April this year Dennis Pompa, Tami Johnson and myself had the privilege of participating in the Southwestern Texas Synod assembly. The mission of our synod is to become a network of spirit empowered communities of disciples called and sent to live out the radically inclusive gospel of Jesus through the promises of baptism.

Together as the Southwestern Texas Synod our synod raised $208,000 for ELCA World Hunger. We raised $139,000 from Lutheran Disaster Response helping build bridges after floods when there was no funding after federal damages. We raised $750 for Global Refuge helping new immigrants to our country. Our synod has made 1000 quilts and 1400 hygiene kits.

These are just a few of the things that we are able to do together as church. If you want to find out more about what we are up to together across our synod, you can research more about any of the above ministries across the church or sign up for newsletters at

Thank you for all of the ways you shine Christ’s light as the body of Christ!

God’s peace,

Pastor Amanda

Live Oak, or dropped off at one of our community donation sites at the YMCA, Baked N Sconed, Lamppost Coffee, the Chamber of Commerce, The Studio, Lucky Hippo, or Vantage Apartments. If your company would be interested in sponsoring a distribution, please contact us at 512-688-0176 or Thank you so much for your support!
