A Note from Gary Alpert,

President of SRVEF Board of Directors

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District has a long tradition of providing high-quality education. One of the highest-performing school districts in the nation, SRVUSD had more National Blue Ribbon schools this past year than any other district in the state or nation. Excellent schools improve the quality of life in our community and protect the value of our homes.

However, San Ramon Valley schools are facing the loss of multiple funding sources.

Measures E & F would provide the stable, locally controlled funding needed to maintain excellent teaching and high-quality academics in local schools. Measure E would renew the current Parcel Tax, set to expire in 2025. Measure F will replace State funding that is not continuing and will be used to protect our schools’ youngest learners and most vulnerable students.

Measures E & F are essential to maintaining high student achievement and ensuring that our San Ramon Valley schools remain among the highest performing in the nation.

The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation supports Measures E & F and we encourage all San Ramon Valley voters to do the same.

Ballots will be mailed to all registered voters in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District on April 7th. They must be returned by May 8th. Every vote is critical.

Both will need a 66.7% YES vote in order to pass - so join us in voting Yes on E & F to keep excellent teachers and award-winning academic programs in San Ramon Valley schools!

See the campaign flyer below for details about Measures E & F and what they protect. Be sure to visit the Campaign website to learn more, volunteer, endorse, and donate!

A big THANK YOU to our Run for Education Presenting Sponsor Chevron for their commitment to public education in the San Ramon Valley!

Esports, Anyone?

The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation and the Endowment Committee sponsored a groundbreaking initiative at California High School – Esports. Far from just casual gaming, Esports represents a burgeoning cultural phenomenon characterized by intense competition and structured gameplay. Regulated by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), the same governing body that oversees traditional school sports, Esports offers a unique platform for student engagement and development, particularly for those who may have been historically underserved.

At the helm of this innovative endeavor is Stephen Farwell, whose vision has now manifested into an official High School Club at California High School. With a dedicated cohort of 30+ students, this club devotes countless hours after school to hone their skills and master their craft. Farwell's aspirations extend beyond the local realm; he dreams of expanding the program to encompass a broader participant base and ultimately competing at the highest echelons against schools nationwide. "We want to provide students with the opportunity to showcase their talent, skills, and curiosity in a way that supports both communal and competitive gaming", Farwell said.

On Tuesday, March 19th, the Esports Club opened its doors to District Staff and the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation, hosting an engaging open house event. Attendees were treated to an immersive demonstration of the intricate computer setups and given the chance to test their skill in playing a game of Overwatch2. As many discovered, mastering these games is no easy feat!

Let's extend hearty congratulations to the California High School Esports team for their dedication and achievements. Their journey exemplifies the spirit of innovation and inclusivity that defines the future of education.

Music Professional Development

On Tuesday, February 20th, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District held a Professional Development Day at Dougherty Valley High School. It was a day filled with learning opportunities for the SRVUSD staff. The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation Major Gifts and Endowment was proud to sponsor a few of the Professional Development sessions offered to music teachers:

  • Diverse Choral Literature (Upper elementary - Secondary)
  • Boomwhackers for Early Childhood Music and Movement (Elementary)
  • Diverse Wind Literature (Instrumental Music - All)
  • ESTILL Vocal Science: The intersection of anatomy, physiology, and acoustics (Secondary)
  • Bollywood Bhangra

It is because of the generosity of our Major Gifts and Endowment Fund donors that we can continue providing Culturally Relevant Music Professional Development that creates and enhances dialogue among our teachers.

The vision of the Major Gifts and Endowment Fund of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation is to provide a stable, local funding source that will enable the San Ramon Valley Unified School District to undertake long-term and innovative educational programs to enhance the curriculum. Over the past years distributions from the Endowment Fund have helped fund significant programs that directly impact SRVUSD students. For more information click here.

Truck Time San Ramon

Turn imagination into real life. Join the Dougherty Valley/San Ramon Rotary at an interactive outdoor family festival that encourages children (and their adults) to explore the trucks and vehicles they see around them all the time, and maybe, some they might never have seen before.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Dougherty Valley/San Ramon (DVSR) Rotary Foundation, the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation, and the San Ramon Historic Foundation
