Dear Friends of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation,
As we wind down summer and begin to think about the new school year, I’d like to thank our individual school affiliates for all they do. Each of the schools has its own Ed Funds, operating under a Board of Directors. School Ed Funds individually plan fundraising activities in collaboration with their local school administration. Funds raised by individual schools are spent at that school. Decisions on what to fund are made by the individual school Ed fund board with input and approval of the local school leadership.
SRVEF funds programs at a District-wide level, consulting with District leadership including the Superintendent on where funding could best be applied. Earlier in the year, SRVEF in partnership with our Major Gifts and Endowment committee approved some exciting District wide initiatives.
- Music Professional Development. We continue to support music education in SRVUSD by providing ongoing professional development opportunities. Music is important for our students and tends to receive inadequate State level funding.
- Generation Citizen – We have funded Generation Citizen for several years, starting as a single High School Pilot and now expanding to all High Schools. Generation Citizen works to ensure that every student receives an effective civics education, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in our democracy as active citizens.
- Arts Integration in the Elementary curriculum. This will provide monthly Arts professional development for instructional assistants responsible for teaching the Arts in the elementary classroom.
- Professional Development – This effort will enhance the implementation and tracking of teacher professional development and look for creative opportunities to incentivize those who engage in professional development activities.
We are grateful to all those that make supporting programs such as these possible.
Speaking of which… our main fundraising event, the 39th Annual Run for Education, will be back in person, with the 10K starting at Charlotte Wood Middle School in Danville and the 5K starting on Camino Ramon, near Bishop Ranch 2700. Both events are USATF Certified Courses. The 5K is a loop and the 10K is point-to-point with both events finishing at 2700 Camino Ramon in San Ramon. Mark your calendars for Race Weekend on October 8th and 9th, and join us for the Expo for Education, Mini Run, Friendship Run, 5K, and 10K! Registration is open now at www.runsanramonvalley.com. Register today to get the best price available.
Have any ideas or suggestions? Our Board is always interested in learning from our community. Please share them by contacting us at info@SRVEF.org.
