Happy September.
First, I’d like to welcome back our families and educators to the new school year. Many have made the comment, ‘things feel normal again’. After the last few years, where nothing felt normal, it feels good to just hear those words.
We have been busy helping our school affiliates kick-off their year, by providing training and support. Our school affiliates work tirelessly to raise funds to help their individual schools. Our board members attend each of the school affiliate meetings, providing ongoing support throughout the year.
The San Ramon Valley Education is hard at work with our own activities, including funding important District-wide initiatives, courtesy of our Endowment Fund. This year, we are pleased to continue our support of Music, Visual Art, Generation Citizen, and Professional Learning.
The Foundation will be launching our Small Grant Program in the coming weeks. SRVEF, partnering with DonorsChoose.org, provides funding to support our Educators. In the past we have funded hundreds of grants in a wide variety of areas, including classroom supplies, books, flexible furniture, learning materials, and more. For the complete list, click here.
As a parent, community member, or someone interested in supporting education, you can look at grants and provide your own donation. Simply visit www.DonorsChoose.org and enter San Ramon Valley Unified School District in the search box. You will find many grants from teachers already posted.
Funding for the small grant program largely comes from the Run for Education proceeds – my next important reminder!
We are just a few weeks away from the 39th Annual Run for Education! This year is special – we are back in person and couldn’t be more excited! If you haven’t registered, there is still time. Visit www.runsanramonvalley.com and sign up today.
We will be hosting our traditional 5K and 10K events on Sunday, October 9th. And our Friendship Run, Mini Run, and Expo for Education on Saturday, October 8th. There will be music, exhibits, and a family friendly Kids Zone. You will also be able to pick up your T Shirt and bib at the Expo. You won’t want to miss this fun family day.
Almost all of our activities will be held at 2700 Camino Ramon (BR2700), directly across from City Center. The only exception is the 10K start line will be at Charlotte Wood Middle School in Danville.
Need some reasons to register? Here are my top five:
5) It’s a San Ramon Valley tradition. If you have been participating for years (and we know that there are many 38-year veterans), don’t stop now. If you’ve never participated or are new to the San Ramon Valley, start this year.
4) Shirts are back and included in your registration. Everyone loves our shirts, and we know you will too!
3) Walking is considered one of the best ways to exercise. Did you know that 5K is right around 6,200 Steps? Are you trying to walk 10,000 steps/day? The Run for Education will help you get there, while helping your schools at the same time. What’s not to like?
2) You can raise money for your school by using the Pledge Page that will automatically be created for you, with 70% of those donations going directly to your school. It’s easy to ask your friends or relatives to help.
1) The funds raised directly benefit our schools and help fund programs, activities, and supplies not otherwise possible. The funds raised by the Run for Education help fund our Small Grant Program. And we all know our teachers deserve our support.
Have any ideas or suggestions? Our Board is always interested in learning from our community. Please share your ideas by contacting us at info@SRVEF.org
