Halifax, MA Veteran Services is proud to announce our campaign for "Halifax Hometown Heroes" banners
We plan on flying proudly over Route 106 in the vicinity of the Town Hall.
We are starting with 50 banners that we hope to order in the late spring/early summer and have these ready to go for Veterans Day 2023! As of now, I do not have a final price. We are working hard at getting some funds to offset the cost. Whatever funds we are not able to secure, the family of the Veteran would be responsible for the remainder. Once we retire the banners from their service to the town, they will be returned to the individual families.
Right now, we are simply gauging interest and collecting data on who would be interested in a banner for their Veteran. There are only two requirements to be eligible - The Veteran must be a resident of Halifax and must be currently serving in the United States Armed Forces as a satisfactory participant or have been honorably discharged. A DD-214 or statement of service will be required for verification.
If interested, please email me the following information to steve.littlefield@halifax-ma.org:
1. Requestor's Name:
2. Veteran's Name, Branch of Service, Years Served
3. Phone Number and Email for a representative of the Veteran for future communication
We are very excited about this initiative and hope to bring an added sense of pride to all of us who live here. Please invite others to our group so they can stay up to date with all the details.
Recently, the Halifax Veteran's Service received a generous donation of from Flower & Soul to go towards this project. If you know any Veteran's from Halifax that you would wish to honor contact Steve at steve.littlefield@halifax-ma.org
Thank you McDonald Industries and Flower & Soul for donations.

Vol. 1 Halifax, MA. November, 1868 No. 1
This Paper was Published in Halifax,
every 3 Months
Terms: - 1 Cent per copy.
Advertisements inserted for 10 cents
per square of 12 lines, each insertion.
"This paper is got up for the purpose of giving the summary of what transpires between the young folks, every three months, and other items of interest. Boys and girls must be on their guard in their doings, or else they may find their names in this paper. Our reporters are numerous, therefore we caution you again, to be on your guard.
A woman's tears are generally more effective than her words. In such cases and is a less powerful element than water.
All young ladies who receive a copy of this paper are requested as a favor to send us some item of interest to be inserted.
Young folks when falling in love with each other, must take care not to fall out.
In the city of New York (unreadable) are 20,000 girls who earn their living by the manufacture of hoop skirts.
An enamored youth says his weakness is lassitude.
'Each moment makes thee dearer." - as the parsimonious tradesman said to his extravagant wife.'
An unfortunate young man is searching everywhere for his sweetheart who was recently carried away by her feelings."

Janie Wants a Dog and Matt & Ben
Student Repertory Theater
Rondileau Student Union Auditorium, 19 Park Ave, Bridgewater
February 22 - 26, 8p
You're invited to Janie's sleepover party! I know we're all a little uncomfortable after what happened but PLEASE be nice to Janie and don't tell her your parents forced you to come. Don't say anything that will 'trigger' her or whatever. Her Moms just really want her to have a nice, normal time with her friends, okay? So bring your cutest PJs, leave your stuffed animals at home, AND your bras-let's be honest, you don't have anything to put in a training bra anyway, Sierra. RSVP to let Janie's Moms know you're coming! And remember! PRETEND LIKE EVERYTHING IS NORMAL!
Matt & Ben depicts its Hollywood golden boys – before J-Lo, before Gwyneth, before Project Greenlight, before Oscar…before anyone actually gave a damn. When the screenplay for Good Will Hunting drops mysteriously from the heavens, the boys realize they’re being tested by a Higher Power.

Climate Can-Do:
Electric Vehicles
Electric vehicles are a more sustainable way for people to get to where they are going. These vehicles offer less maintenance and repairs, less expensive when it comes to fueling, and most importantly cause less pollution.
In Massachusetts the Zero Emissions Vehicle commission, or ZEV, was established in 2015 and is working to help support the zero emission vehicle adoption in Massachusetts. Their overall goal is to promote zero emission vehicles, also known as ZEV’s. These vehicles include fuel cell, plug in, or battery electric cars, buses, and vans.
When it comes to making more charging stations for electric vehicles, companies like Chargepoint are offering funding in order to install more of them. This would help make it more accessible for those who want this sustainable transportation. It would make it easier to charge their cars with more available charging stations in Massachusetts.
If you want to find out more about ZEV commission or would like to see more about the funding going into electric vehicle charging stations, read the links provided.

This Climate Can-Do Article was written by intern Maeve Stowe of Bridgewater State University. We focus on actions which will help mitigate the environmental changes of our climate emergency. Our goal is to keep our climate's temperature from rising 1.5˚ C to lessen the impact on our environment. We can do!

Presidential...
as well as referring to the president, is known to mean stately, refined, purposeful. There is the presidential suite, or showing presidential wisdom. We have a long history of great thought to share:
"Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction." ~ John F. Kennedy
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ~ Barack Obama
“You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.” ~ Woodrow Wilson
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” ~ Calvin Coolidge
“Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.” ~Theodore Roosevelt
These men, merely humans, did the best they could to lead this country. Our future leaders make decisions daily; hopefully leading our country toward a more sustainable humanity. It's on us to keep them on the right path.
|
From the past, these presidents encourage us: make the effort, change, have greater vision, persist, and care. ~ Jacquie
