Even in the aftermath of catastrophe, God's littlest ones carry on.
Haiti Country Team members set off in boats for their day's work.
Haiti Still Needs
Your Help

“The last six weeks have been too much,” says Gerry Delaquis, our Haiti Coordinator.

That’s right – it’s only been six weeks since the earthquake decimated parts of Haiti. In the immediate aftermath, torrential rains and flooding washed away much of what had been destroyed. The human cost in death and devastation continues.

But it has disappeared from the eyes of the world.

Fortunately, the Water With Blessings Community for Mission is not blind to the needs of God’s thirsty children.

“The area of L’Asile, the most affected, was previously underserved anyway,” Gerry said. “We were the first ones to help there after the earthquake, and we are finishing what we started. Beginning Monday, October 4, 17 team members will be there – that’s one of the biggest we’ve sent out, in one of our most challenging efforts. We’re going to train 1,080 Water Women in six days.
The red point is Les Cayemites.
“The following week, we are scheduled to go to some very small islands called Les Cayemites, very neglected, where they don’t have water to drink. We will do the same thing we are doing in L’Asile: 17 people, 1,080 Water Women, six days. Again, these are the most challenging missions we’ve had in Haiti. The team is going to have to go in small boats, every morning loading the materials. The coordination is very difficult.”

Some of that coordination has been made more effective with the help of Airlink, a rapid-response humanitarian relief organization that helps move supplies quickly in times of disaster. We hope to continue partnering with them. You can learn more by clicking on this link: airlinkflight.org

“Being able to airlift – that helped a lot,” Gerry said. “The quick turnaround will save lives.”

Finally, Gerry has a request he would like you to pass on to everyone you speak with.

“Let’s look at Haiti without putting the blame on people – the government, the international community,” he said. “Pay attention to what’s not human-made, and how often these natural disasters happen to Haiti.

“Look at the people who have never been able to recoup their losses from crises not human-made. Haiti needs your help.”
Coming Up On Tuesday: Please Help Us Celebrate Ten Years of God's Blessings
Remember how proud you were as a child to get to the ‘double-digits’? There was something special and grown-up about getting to 10.

At Water With Blessings, we’re feeling the same way right now.

We’re having a birthday moment – 10 years since we incorporated as a nonprofit organization.

Little did we know that we would be in 48 countries with nearly 130,000 trained and equipped Water Women providing clean water to nearly half a million families.

As with any milestone, it’s no fun celebrating by yourself. Please join us this Tuesday, October 5. We will be partying in the parking lot in front of the Water With Blessings office (1902 Campus Place, Unit 11, in eastern Louisville) between 4 and 6pm. We will provide a light supper with barbecue and other treats.

And for those of you who would like to learn more about our beginnings, we will have our scrapbooks and other archival materials for you to look through.

Please come celebrate this milestone with us. You helped us get here, and make it possible for us to continue providing clean water to God’s thirsty children today and into the future. If you would like to join in the fun and to reserve your barbecue box, please send your RSVP to: debbie@waterwithblessings
Create a Legacy to Help More Water Women Filter Clean Water for God’s Thirsty Children
Water With Blessings has so many generous donors who understand the urgency of giving “right now” when there is an unexpected disaster like the recent earthquake and hurricane in Haiti. Now, we would like to share information with you about National Estate Planning Awareness Week, October 18-24, 2021.

You can make plans for future needs, creating your own unique legacy with an estate plan that will support your loved ones and support your favorite nonprofit. Surprisingly, fewer than one-third of Americans currently has a will (Source: Caring.com). That’s down from more than half of Americans with a prepared will in 2005.

Sometimes people skip estate planning because they find the topic uncomfortable to think about or discuss. Or, they might think that wills and trusts are only for the super wealthy. But if you have any assets such as a home, vehicle, or bank accounts, or have loved ones who depend on you, it’s a good idea to have an estate plan in place.

During the upcoming Estate Planning Awareness week, we encourage our donors to talk with their financial and legal advisors to create an estate plan that can help protect you, your loved ones, and your life’s work. It can provide support for your favorite charitable organizations and ensure your own special legacy.
