Habitat Williamson-Maury Dedicates
4000th Habitat Home in Tennessee

Harold Allen poses in front
of his new home.

On Veterans Day, we had the great honor of dedicating the 4,000th Habitat Home in the State of Tennessee to Vietnam Veteran Harold Allen. Over 200 supporters from as far as Knoxville came to celebrate this important Habitat milestone and welcome Mr. Allen into his new, ADA-compliant home.

In attendance were veterans and active duty service members, the Air Force ROTC Detachment 790, and Mr. Allen's American Legion Post 215. Guest speakers included City of Franklin Mayor Dr. Ken Moore, Senator Jim Tracy, Senator Jack Johnson, Todd Berry of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati, Ralph Perrey of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, Congressman Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett, and Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder. In addition, over 65 representatives from Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the State traveled to the celebration.

The event included a special performance of "God Bless the USA" by Mr. Lee Greenwood. Mr. Greenwood remarked on the event, "I'm proud to be here, I'm proud to be in America and I'm proud to be on the front porch of Mr. Allen's brand new home."

Mr. Allen closed on his home on November 21, becoming the first person in his family to become a homeowner.  Welcome Home, Harold!

Nissan Celebrates Eight Habitat Home in Williamson County

Rose White and Brian Delauter

On November 7, Director of Corporate Services at Nissan Brian Delauter presented the keys and mortgage certificate to new Habitat Williamson-Maury homeowner Rose White. Rose's home is the eighth home sponsored by the company in Williamson County, and over the prior five weeks, more than 220 Nissan employee volunteers helped to build her home located on Bradford Street just south of downtown Franklin.

White moved to Williamson County in 2010 and has worked as a server for Carrabba's in Franklin, TN for the past three years. She has a seven-year-old daughter and a three-month-old son, and her commute between home in Fairview, work in Franklin, and her babysitter in Goodlettsville has been one of the greatest challenges of her life. Rosemary is looking forward to living, working, and having her daughter attend school all in the same city.

"The people from Habitat for Humanity really believe in me and the future I want to make for my children," she remarks. "I would like to thank everyone for giving me this opportunity to become successful and not just maintain." After the completion of her home, White plans to complete her education as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

When asked what she has enjoyed most about her build, White notes, "It has been a pleasure working side-by-side the Nissan volunteers and getting to know each of them personally. Their dedication and hard work is creating more than a house, it is creating my family's future. May God bless each of them, as they have helped Him to bless me!"

We wish Rose a very happy holiday season in her new home!

We were also honored to recognize our friends John and Susan Besser, two of the organization's founders and biggest champions.

Trivia Night Fundraiser: Homes and Hope for the Holidays

Our thanks to Brenthaven Church and Sacred Sparks Ministry for hosting the first ever Homes and Hope Trivia Night on November 8.

The fun-filled event included silent auction items, prizes for each of the five rounds, and spirited competition from the twelve teams. The dynamic duo of Pastor Kip Rush and Youth Minister Joanna Wilkinson emceed the event and had everyone rolling in their seats. Thanks to the attendee's support, $2,260 was raised and split equally between Habitat Williamson-Maury and the Sacred Sparks ministry.

If you couldn't attend this year, make a note to join us next year! This event is sure to become a yearly tradition.

Please Remember Habitat Williamson-Maury for Your End-of-Year Charitable Giving

It has been an exciting year here at Habitat Williamson-Maury!

Thanks to nearly 1,900 volunteers (who put in more than 15,000 hours on our build sites) and generous donations from our community, 11 families will enjoy the holidays in Habitat for Humanity homes they purchased!

Our 2015 build season starts in February, and 11 new partner families are hard at work putting in sweat equity, participating in one-on-one budget coaching, attending homeownership classes, and saving up for their closing costs.

In celebration of this season of hope, please consider helping us realize our mission of putting God's love into action by making a donation today.

You can give quickly and securely on our website by clicking here.

Thank you for your on-going support!

1 John 3:16-18 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has not pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? ... Let us not love, in word or speech, but in truth and action.

Budget Coaches for Partner Families Needed

We are seeking volunteers to serve as one-on-one budget coaches for our partner families. This unique opportunity provides community members the chance to build meaningful relationships with families, while helping provide the solid financial foundation needed for homeownership. Coaches are trained, and curriculum is provided. Meetings times are scheduled by the coach and family.
