CEO Corner

Happy Summer!

June is a month of celebrations! We celebrated National Caribbean-American Heritage Month with Dr. Kwamie Dunbar as our CEO Speaker Series 2023 Keynote Speaker. Dr. Dunbar is a Professor of Finance at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Business School and also President of the West Indian American Association of Greater Bridgeport, Inc. We also celebrated Juneteenth at Juneteenth of Fairfield County Annual Parade and at the Diocese of Bridgeport Apostolate of Black Catholics Holy Hour Against Racism. Habitat International shared that, “As we observe Juneteenth with a day of reflection and action, Habitat for Humanity continues to encourage transformational change that creates thriving communities. To get there, we need to confront hard truths and commit to disruptive action.” Another major celebration in June was Father’s Day. We are thankful for all Habitat fathers - families, donors, supporters, volunteers, and staff. You are helping to build a community where our families have a place to call home.

As an international nonprofit housing organization, we are blessed with the opportunity to continue building more affordable homes for eligible low-income working families despite facing an affordable housing crisis in the United States. Housing costs are rising much faster than the income of many families. We thank each of you for donating your time, talent, and treasure to create more affordable housing opportunities for the families that we serve.

At Habitat CFC, we put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Thank you for continuing the journey with us!

In partnership,

Carolyn Vermont, CEO
